A New Milestone in Kidney Transplant Surgery
I am delighted to share the publication of our novel surgical technique for kidney transplantation in the Indian Journal of Transplantation.
“Hand Port-assisted Renal Transplant – A Novel Technique”
This technique has been developed to combine the strengths of traditional open kidney transplantation with the advantages of minimally invasive/robotic-assisted approaches.
🔹 Minimally invasive approach with a smaller incision
🔹 Reduced surgical trauma and potentially better postoperative recovery
🔹 Direct vascular access and tactile feedback of open surgery
🔹 Avoids the need for a fully robotic setup, making the technique potentially more accessible and cost-effective
🔹 Maintains the principles of safe renal transplantation while reducing the extent of the incision
The technique represents our continued effort to make kidney transplantation safer, less invasive and more patient-friendly, while retaining the surgical control and safety that are essential during transplantation.
