Constant fatigue, unexplained weight changes, hair fall, mood swings, and no clear reason behind these changes—this may not always be just stress. It could be related to the thyroid.
The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located in the neck. It plays a crucial role in regulating energy levels, metabolism, mood, sleep, and even heart rate. The challenge is that thyroid-related symptoms often appear common and are easily ignored as part of daily life.
Symptoms such as persistent fatigue, changes in weight, low mood, anxiety, hair fall, and irregular menstrual cycles can sometimes be early signs of thyroid imbalance. These signs are often overlooked, especially since thyroid disorders are quite common, particularly among women.
The good news is that when detected early, thyroid conditions can be effectively managed with proper medical guidance.
There are two main types of thyroid disorders. Hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid is underactive. It may lead to symptoms such as weight gain, extreme tiredness, and tingling sensations in the hands and feet.
The other type is hyperthyroidism, where the thyroid is overactive. It can result in weight loss, tremors in the hands, increased anxiety, and mood changes.
On this World Thyroid Day, don’t dismiss your symptoms as “normal.” Sometimes the body is speaking clearly—we just stop paying attention
