Is your baby really ready for solids?

Look for the signs that actually matter: sitting with support and steady head control, showing interest in food, and being able to swallow food instead of pushing it back out.

Chewing fists, waking more at night, or asking for extra milk feeds are common baby behaviours and are not, by themselves, signs to start solids.

Most babies show the key readiness signs around 6 months, but every baby is different, so speak with your paediatrician if you’re unsure.
