SRIAAS: SR Institute of Advanced Ayurvedic Sciences is the brainchild of Dr. Puru Dhawan and Dr. Pragati Gupta. Formerly known as Sai Sanjivani, SRIAAS has evolved with more experience and expertise over the span of 11 years. Hakim Dharam Dev Dhawan, the man behind the introduction of medicinal practice in the Dhawan clan, came to India in the year 1947 after the India-Pakistan division. A journey of medicinal practice began to promote Ayurveda for the healthy functioning of the human body. Late Hakim Dharam Dev Dhawan’s self-prepared formulas were transferred among the generations of the Dhawan dynasty as their supreme legacy. Later Dr. Arjun Dev Dhawan continued the healthcare practice with the same goal of providing the best of Ayurveda. In the year 1970, Dr. Arjun Dev Dhawan aimed to provide healthcare services with the best quality services in Delhi. The journey began and people came to know about the qualitative values. Taking ahead the legacy, Dr. Suresh Dev Dhawan expanded the reach of Ayurvedic treatment all over India. Imbibing his forefathers’ qualities, Dr. Puru Dhawan, the kidney specialist, began his medicinal practice with renal failure treatment in Ayurveda in the year 2010. The aim that was limited to just Indian grounds had taken flight and reached the global levels. Today, more than 2,00,000+ kidney patients have found satisfaction in Ayurveda and live independently without dialysis.

A 31-year-old man’s kidney function deteriorated severely within just 1 month.

One important detail in his history? He had taken painkillers 13 times in a single month. 💊 Taking painkillers repeatedly without medical guidance may put unnecessary stress on your kidneys. If you frequently need pain medication, don’t ignore the reason behind the recurring pain.

Pain relief should not come at the cost of your kidney health.

Save this Reel and share it with someone who frequently takes painkillers.

After starting treatment, his latest test showed creatinine at 0.9. He also shared that his blood sugar, which had previously been around 350, was 108 when he recently checked it. His blood pressure, previously above 200, was 137/93.

Drink more water" is one of the most repeated pieces of health advice — but for kidney patients, more isn't automatically better.

Most people assume water is always safe, always beneficial, the more the better. For kidney patients specifically, that's not quite true.

💧 Too little water — toxins accumulate, kidney load increases
💧 Too much water — fluid retention worsens, swelling increases, and the kidneys work harder to process it
✅ The right amount — usually 1 to 1.5 litres per day, based on your specific condition

The right amount varies patient to patient, based on GFR, swelling, and other conditions. Please don't self-prescribe "more water" as a fix — check with your doctor.

Why Can Kidney Disease Cause Both High Creatinine and Low Hemoglobin?

When creatinine levels rise, many kidney patients also experience low hemoglobin, fatigue, weakness, breathlessness, or reduced appetite. But why do these problems occur together?
In this video, Dr. Pragti Gupta explains how damaged kidneys can produce less erythropoietin, which is a hormone that plays an important role in red blood cell production. The video also discusses the importance of maintaining adequate nutrition, including protein, folic acid, and vitamin B12, while following a kidney-appropriate diet based on individual health needs. Further in the video, the doctor also explains why controlling underlying causes such as high blood pressure and blood sugar is important to prevent continued kidney damage.

Watch the complete video to understand the connection between kidney function, creatinine, and hemoglobin, and why treatment and diet should be planned according to your medical reports.

Are your kidneys getting better? Here's how to know.

Most patients focus only on creatinine numbers — but recovery shows up in other ways too.

Dr. Puru Dhawan's 5 signs your kidneys are on the right track:

✅ 1. Creatinine is dropping — even 0.5 points down is progress worth celebrating
✅ 2. Less swelling in legs and face — your kidneys are filtering more effectively
✅ 3. More energy through the day — toxin levels are reducing
✅ 4. Better sleep, less night-time urination — kidney pressure is easing
✅ 5. Appetite coming back — your body is healing from within

Recovery is not always dramatic. Sometimes it is quiet and steady. Trust the process. Stay consistent with treatment.

Most kidney damage doesn't come from one big event — it builds up from small daily habits most people never think twice about.

3 everyday habits that quietly put extra load on your kidneys:

1️⃣ Reaching for painkillers (NSAIDs) too often — even common ones can strain kidneys with frequent, unsupervised use
2️⃣ Holding urine for long periods — regularly delaying the urge increases pressure and infection risk over time
3️⃣ Protein shakes and supplements without guidance — excess protein intake makes kidneys work harder to filter waste

None of these mean instant damage — but done repeatedly, over years, they add up. Small awareness now can prevent bigger problems later.

Can Kidney Function Improve When Dialysis Is Advised? Being advised to start dialysis can be frightening, especially when symptoms like breathlessness, weakness, and high blood pressure begin to interfere with day-to-day life.

In this video, Dr. Priyanka Singh discusses Mr. Bhagwan Dubey’s kidney disease journey. His creatinine was initially 3.5, but despite taking medication, it increased to 4 and then reached 7.2. During this period, he was experiencing breathlessness and weakness, along with high blood pressure. After around one and a half months of treatment, his reported creatinine decreased to 4.17, while his urea also reduced. He also reported improved energy, controlled blood pressure, and no longer experiencing breathlessness. The doctor further explains his clinical progress and why a patient's symptoms and reports need to be assessed carefully when dialysis is being considered.

Do you know what your creatinine number actually means? Most people see a high creatinine report and panic—but they don't really understand what those numbers are trying to tell them.

Here's a simple breakdown:
🟢 0.6 – 1.2 mg/dL — Normal kidney function
🟡 1.3 – 2.5 mg/dL — Mild concern. Monitor closely.
🟠 2.6 – 5.0 mg/dL — High risk. Start treatment now.
🔴 Above 5.0 mg/dL — Critical. Needs immediate attention.

The earlier you take action, the more treatment options you may have.
Creatinine is not a life sentence—it's a signal. And signals should never be ignored.

Once you start dialysis, you'll be on it for life." — Has someone told you this? We hear this every day, and we understand the fear it brings.

But here's what we have seen at SRIAAS:

✅ Patients who were on dialysis no longer need it.
✅ Kidney function is improving with Ayurvedic treatment.
✅ Quality of life returning — naturally.

Dialysis is a support system, not a life sentence. When the right Ayurvedic protocol is followed, kidneys may recover, and the body has the ability to heal.

We're not saying it works for everyone. But we are saying this: explore your options before you give up hope.

Banana is the fruit everyone reaches for when they want to eat "healthy." For kidney patients, it can actually be one of the riskiest.

Dr. Puru Dhawan shares which fruits are kidney-safe — and which ones to watch out for.

✅ Kidney-Safe Fruits:
🍎 Apple — low potassium, safe in daily portions
🍈 Papaya — gentle on kidneys, easy to digest
🍍 Pineapple — naturally low potassium
🫐 Berries — low potassium, antioxidant-rich

❌ High-Risk Fruits:
🍌 Banana — very high potassium, often underestimated
🍊 Orange — high potassium, including in juice form
🥭 Mango — high sugar + potassium
🍉 Watermelon — high potassium despite feeling "light"

💧 Portion and frequency matter too — always check with your doctor before adding any fruit regularly.
