It may feel like good people suffer more - but the brain tells a slightly different, deeper story.
People who are kind, empathetic, and morally driven tend to have a more sensitive emotional circuitry. Their limbic system (especially the amygdala) responds strongly to injustice, pain, and emotional conflict.
Their prefrontal cortex - the seat of reflection and conscience - is often overactive, constantly analyzing: “Did I do the right thing? Could I have helped more?”
This combination creates a beautiful soul… but also a vulnerable mind.
Good people don’t just experience pain - they process it more deeply. They remember more, feel more, and carry more.
Not because life is unfair only to them, but because their brains are wired to care beyond convenience.
But here’s the truth you must hold onto -
Suffering is not a sign of weakness.
It is often the cost of awareness.
