Do you ever feel like you crash after meal times?

This is NOT how it’s supposed to be.

Your meals should be keeping you full + energized for at least 4 hours.

If they are not, something is off. And it’s usually too many carbs + not enough protein & fiber.

When you load up on just carbs, your body experiences an insulin spike and then crash (bc it has nothing to help bring it back down steadily).

This makes you feel hangry & tired. Which is no bueno at 10am when you’ve got s**t to do. It also disrupts fat burning for your body.

We can avoid this whole phenomenon by making sure our meals are balanced. Which means making sure you’re adding some protein, fiber and fat with your carbs.

Example:

Lonely carbs: 1 cup oatmeal with 1 banana

⬇️

Balanced carbs: 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/2 banana, 2 tbsp nut butter, 2 scoops collagen mixed in.

Halide is healthy : 4 incredible turmeric based drink you must try.

You can use it :
1. Warm a glass of water with 1 gm (a pinch) of turmeric along with a piece of ginger.

2. You can have turmeric powder with 1 teaspoon of honey daily.

3. You can add it to milk, both hot and cold. For the latter, use haldi diluted in warm water and then cooled, or if you like, you can add it as such.

With the pandemic of Coronavirus we are facing today, I wouldn't say that turmeric is a treatment or a 100% protection against COVID 19, but keeping your immunity up definitely protects you better against the onslaught of infections. Also immunity is built up over time, not in one day, so by inculcating good habits and adopting a healthy lifestyle and eating well, we can face challenges in life.

Sometimes we are so go-go-go that we forget that our meals can be a moment to slow down and be present. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These are a few shifts you can start practicing on a daily basis to eat more mindfully at any meal. 😌⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you slow down and eat mindfully, it allows you to enjoy what you're eating and also tune in to your body and see what's working for you — two things that are so important for creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle for the long-term. 💫⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Which one of these things will you put into practice this week?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(And remember — it's not about being perfect! But with practice and patience, over time, you'll notice these things happening more naturally for you.) .wagon

When switching to a plant-based lifestyle (or even if you’ve been following it for a while), you’ll want to pay extra attention to these key nutrients you could potentially miss and ones that I see most often lacking in our coaching clients' diets. 🌱You can absolutely obtain adequate intakes of these nutrients with a mindful approach.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are ample plant-based foods where you can get these nutrients, it's just a matter of learning what they are, the food sources, and being mindful to incorporate them into your diet each day or at least in the context of your week.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are a few ideas for each! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Protein: lentils, seeds, organic tempeh, organic tofu, nuts, beans, nutritional yeast, spirulina⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Iron: whole grains, nuts, seeds, fortified foods, and green veggies⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Zinc: baked beans, cashews, chickpeas, oatmeal, h**p seeds, pumpkin seeds⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•Vitamin D: plant-based milk and supplements, mushrooms (depending on how they’re grown)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Calcium: collard greens, bok choy, tahini, broccoli, and kale⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Vitamin B12: nutritional yeast, fortified foods like plant-based milk, and supplements⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you need support with eating more plant-based, that's what I'm here for! Send me a DM with your questions or drop them in the comments and I'm here to help!⠀⠀⠀wagon .

Gut bacteria and its interactions with immune cells and metabolic organs, including fat tissue, is found to play a key role.

Obesity is one of the major lifestyle diseases across the globe. While consumption of junk and high-calorie foods is undoubtedly a leading cause of obesity, a recent study, published in the journal Obesity Reviews, has shed light on another reason that may be a key factor behind obesity in children. Gut bacteria and its interactions with immune cells and metabolic organs, including fat tissue, is found to play a key role. Apart from the gut, the mother's diet, health, exercise level, antibiotic use, birth method (natural or caesarean), and feeding method (formula or breast milk) may also pose as a risk factor in a child getting obese. "The medical community used to think that obesity was a result of consuming too many calories. However, a series of studies over the past decade has confirmed that the microbes living in our gut are not only associated with obesity but also are one of the causes," said lead author Hariom Yadav, Ph.D., Assistant Professor

Obesity is increasing at a 2.3 per cent rate each year among school-aged children, which is unacceptably high and indicates worrisome prospects for the next generation's health, the study stated.

For the study, the researchers analysed existing studies (animal and human) on how the interaction between gut microbiome and immune cells can be passed from mother to baby, as early as gestation, and can further contribute to childhood obesity.wagon
