Dark patches after facial bleach? Don’t ignore them. In my practice, I’ve seen patients who noticed dark patches after using facial bleach and were later diagnosed with LPP.

Facial bleach may be a trigger in some people, but pigmentation after bleaching is not always LPP. If you notice new dark patches, stop using the bleach and get your skin properly examined.

🌿 Indigo is natural—but it can still cause a skin reaction.

In my practice, I meet patients with Lichen Planus Pigmentosus (LPP) who noticed pigmentation after using indigo hair colour. That timing is worth discussing with a clinician, but it does not prove indigo caused their LPP. Reactions vary from person to person.

Before using any hair colour, follow the product’s patch test instructions every time. If you notice itching, burning, redness, or new pigmentation, stop using the product and seek a dermatologist’s advice for diagnosis.

Natural does not always mean suitable for your skin.

WHY DOES LPP PIGMENTATION FADE SO SLOWLY? 🔬

LPP pigmentation is not limited to the skin’s surface.

Inflammation can damage pigment-containing cells in the basal layer, allowing melanin to move into the deeper dermis. There, immune cells called melanophages absorb and retain the pigment.

Because this pigment lies deeper in the skin, the body clears it very gradually. This is why visible fading may take time, even after the inflammation has stabilized.

No new patches, reduced spreading and fewer symptoms may be important signs of progress before a major colour change becomes visible.

Stay consistent with your treatment, avoid suspected triggers and compare photographs monthly under the same lighting.

Don’t judge your LPP journey by one difficult day.
Stabilization comes first. Fading follows gradually.
