“Shija Conducts Free Eye Screening Camp at Kachikhul”

Imphal, 17 June 2026: A one-day Free Comprehensive Eye Screening Camp was organized at Kachikhul, Imphal West District, on 16 June 2026. The camp was jointly organized by Shija Eye Care Foundation (SECF), the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI), Manipur Chapter, and Kachikhul Youth Football Association (KYFA) at Kachikhul Mayai Leikai Community Hall.

A medical team from Shija Eye Care Foundation, led by Dr. Priyalaxmi Chakpram, Consultant Ophthalmologist, conducted detailed eye examinations of 150 individuals. During the screening, 16 persons were diagnosed with cataracts, 6 with pterygium, and 98 with refractive errors. Additionally, 7 individuals required further evaluation and specialized treatment were referred to the base hospital for advanced management.

Shija Hospital, through the Shija Eye Care Foundation, remains committed to enhancing access to quality eye care services across the region. Through regular outreach initiatives, screening camps, and community-based interventions, the Foundation continues to promote eye health awareness and ensure that essential ophthalmic services reach underserved and remote populations.

Under the AIOS SEE Project, Shija Eye Care Foundation successfully conducted a free eye screening camp at Free Progress Academy, Salam Keikhu, Imphal West.
A total of 344 students and staff members were screened by our ophthalmology team. During the camp, 68 cases of refractive error, 1 case of squint, and 1 case of ptosis were identified. To support better vision and academic performance, 56 students will be provided with spectacles free of cost.
Early detection and timely intervention can make a significant difference in a child's learning and quality of life. We remain committed to promoting eye health and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to see clearly and reach their full potential.

Shija Eye Care Foundation successfully conducted a Free Eye Screening Camp at Praja Higher Secondary School, covering all students and teachers as part of our commitment to promoting better eye health and vision care in the community.

During the screening, individuals diagnosed with refractive errors will be provided with spectacles free of cost, helping them achieve better vision, improve their academic and daily activities, and lead a healthier and more productive life.
