Jaw Pain.
Ear Pain.
Headaches.
Migraines.
Neck pain.
Even sinusitis.
TMD.
🦷All these can be a result of the dental work done.
While the patient will likely experience relief from tooth pain after treatment, they may find that they have another type of pain.
🦷 An injection called the nerve block is given to numb the mandible or the jaw. Now this injection is directly given in the mandibular nerve.
This is very close to the jaw muscles.
🦷The effect on your nervous system can't even be discussed in such a small post
🦷Holding your mouth open for such a long period of time can not only cause muscle tension and tenderness – it can cause temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) or TMD. Sometimes, one or both jaw discs can slip after an RCT. This can lead to short- and long-term jaw pain.
🦷The whole process makes your jaw muscles scream in pain but due to the nerve block you hardly realise the strain.
Tightening of thea muscles in long term causes the posture of your neck to shift.
🦷When the jaw is recessed, the head moves into a forward head posture in an attempt to remain in balance, consequently putting a great deal of strain on the muscles of the neck and upper back.
🦷Spinal misalignments and malfunctions can lead to or aggravate many seemingly unrelated but common conditions not typically associated with the spine. The slumping indicative of a forward head or body posture has been found to be directly related to current or potential spinal dysfunction, pain, and general ill health—a true sign of old age.
