Important Update for Aspirants
Following the Hon'ble Delhi High Court's order in W.P.(C) No. 11097/2026 (Sunil & Anr. vs Medical Counselling Committee), the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has withdrawn its notification dated 03.08.2026 with immediate effect.
Key updates:
🔹 Petitioner candidates are now allowed to re-register and participate in Round 2 of NEET-SS 2025 Counselling.
🔹 The resignation portal will remain open for all candidates until 4:00 PM on 7 August 2026.
🔹 Fresh registration and choice filling for Round 2 will begin from 10:00 AM on 9 August 2026 as per the revised schedule.
🔹 Candidates are advised to check the updated counselling schedule on the MCC website and complete all formalities within the stipulated timeline.
This revision aims to ensure a fair counselling process in compliance with the Hon'ble Delhi High Court's directions.

Raebareli: Doctor Arrested Before Medical Inquiry?

The arrest of Dr. Amit Singh following the tragic death of a 10-year-old girl after a tonsil surgery has raised serious concerns within the medical fraternity.

According to police, the arrest was made in connection with allegations of medical negligence.

Indian Medical Association (IMA) has strongly opposed the action, stating that the arrest was carried out before a fair and independent medical expert inquiry was completed.
Medical professionals across the state have announced protests, emphasizing that while any allegation of negligence must be thoroughly investigated, criminal liability should be determined only after an impartial medical board examines the case.
An important question remains: Should an adverse medical outcome automatically result in the arrest of a doctor before the completion of a scientific and independent investigation?
A transparent, evidence-based inquiry is essential to ensure justice for the patient as well as fairness for the treating doctors.

The Central and State Governments must urgently address:
Fair and timely salaries for junior doctors.
Creation of adequate government medical posts.
Regulation of exploitative employment practices in the private sector.
Better workforce planning to prevent unemployment among qualified doctors.
A strong healthcare system begins with respecting and supporting its doctors.

On the night of June 27, the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) arrested former Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr. Vatsala Aggarwal and Deputy Controller of Accounts Neeraj Chopra. This follows the earlier arrest of Central Procurement Agency (CPA) Chief Dr. Vijay Kumar Ranga on June 18.

📢 Major Reform in Postgraduate Medical Education

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public notice regarding the conversion of Postgraduate Diploma seats into Broad Specialty Degree seats (MD/MS).

🔹 Academic Year 2026–27 will be the final year for admissions to PG Diploma courses.
🔹 From Academic Year 2027–28 onwards, no new admissions will be permitted to PG Diploma programs.
🔹 All PG Diploma courses will be gradually phased out and converted into MD/MS degree seats, subject to approval by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) and compliance with NMC norms.
🔹 The move aims to standardize postgraduate medical education, enhance specialist training, align qualifications with contemporary educational standards, and optimize institutional capacity.

This marks a significant transition in India's medical education system and will have a major impact on future postgraduate training pathways.

Instead of addressing equipment failures and ensuring accountability, action appears to have been taken against the doctor who spoke up.

When doctors highlighting patient safety issues face punitive action, it raises serious concerns about transparency, quality standards, and the protection of whistleblowers in public healthcare. Patients deserve functioning equipment, timely diagnosis, and a system that prioritizes healthcare over image management.
Healthcare institutions should investigate faulty machinery, fix systemic failures, and support professionals who raise genuine public-interest concerns—not silence them.
