RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) is a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure used to treat kidney stones. A flexible ureteroscope is passed through the natural urinary passage (urethra → bladder → ureter → kidney),
so no skin incision is required. A laser (usually Holmium:YAG or Thulium Fiber Laser) is used to fragment the stones.
Indications
1. Renal stones up to 2 cm (and selected larger stones)
2.Lower calyceal stones
3.Residual stones after other procedures
Patients unsuitable for PCNL or open surgery
Upper ureteric stones.
