A cataract refers to an eye disease where there is a decrease in vision due to cloudiness of the clear lens of that eye. This is quite a common disease and one may know here that most cataracts are due to the ageing process. The problem can be severe as cataract can also result in vision loss after some time, leading to even blinding of the person, when left untreated. Also, cataract happens in both the eyes. However, it affects one eye earlier than the other eye.
CAUSES
The non-age related cataracts are also known as secondary cataracts. And they can be due to some changes in the protein of lens. This also leads to visual blurring or even vision loss. It can further be due to some kind of injury to the eye, some eye surgery that took place for some other eye conditions, as well as exposure to infrared, ionizing and ultraviolet radiations.
Age-related cataract is about the binding of some proteins together that begins to cloud some small area of the lens.
Following are some usual symptoms of cataract:

Also, when there arises a problem with glare during night or day.
CATARACT TREATMENT
When talking of Ayurveda, cataract refers to timira, name of the disease. The term responsible for timira is called aggravated vata, responsible for the manifestation of the disease. Vata has one of its properties as that of drying up things. Ayurveda helps treat the disease at an early stage. It helps by alleviating the aggravated body energies, nourishing as well as strengthening nerves and tissues of the eye.
