Case of the year 2025 - I am delighted to present this complex dental case, which poses significant challenges. The patient presented to me in 2022, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic's aftermath, with a history of symptoms dating back to 2021. A medical practitioner had initiated treatment with ivermectin and antihypertensive medications, which the patient continued for over a year without follow-up. Consequently, she developed periodontal changes, unaware of the detrimental effects of prolonged medication use. Upon examination, I commenced quadrant-wise gingivectomy, but unfortunately, the patient experienced gum regrowth within a month. Further investigation revealed the overuse of COVID-19 medication, which was subsequently discontinued. Following consultation with her physician, I performed a comprehensive gingivectomy, and fortunately, the patient's gums healed successfully. Despite the loss of several teeth due to poor periodontal status, we have since completed full-mouth rehabilitation. I am optimistic that she will enjoy improved oral health and a better quality of life.

And it just took 15 minutes to me, to make her smile more esthetic then before 😊👍

A smile does matter!
