NEP SAARTHI Initiative: Street Play on “Drug-Free India”
Jodhpur, 22 August 2026 — Under the UGC NEP SAARTHI Activity Calendar 2026, a street play on “Drug-Free India” was organised at Sanjeevani Ayurvedic Hospital, PGIA, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurveda University, Jodhpur, in collaboration with the Department of Agada Ta**ra.
The programme was held in the gracious presence of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Vaidya) Govind Sahay Shukla. Students of the 2024 BAMS batch presented an impactful street play highlighting the harmful physical, mental and social effects of substance abuse. Through their creative performance, they encouraged youth to stay away from addiction and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor appreciated the students’ efforts and emphasised that substance abuse affects not only individual health but also families and society. He encouraged continued awareness initiatives for building a healthy and drug-free society.
Prof. Chandan Singh, Principal, PGIA, highlighted the importance of creating a drug-free campus and increasing awareness among students. Prof. Ritu Kapoor, Head, Department of Agada Ta**ra, emphasised the importance of timely awareness and community participation in preventing addiction. Information about the De-addiction Unit functioning at the University Hospital was also shared.
Faculty members, students, patients and their attendants actively participated in the programme. The initiative promoted social responsibility, leadership and public awareness among students in the spirit of NEP 2020.
The programme was successfully coordinated with the support of the NEP Cell, NEP SAARTHIs and Department of Agada Ta**ra. Prof. A. Neelima Reddy, Coordinator, NEP, expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the programme.
