Chennakesava Temple, Somnathpura ā€” about 1 hour from Mysore šŸŖ·āœØšŸ”±

Built in 1268, this is Hoysala architecture at its peak.
Every surface is carved, not just patterns, but stories: animals, dancers, warriors, scenes from epics, and everyday life.

The layout is star-shaped, so the walls keep shifting, more edges, more space for detail.
And all of this was done by hand. No machines.

Itā€™s now part of the UNESCO-listed Hoysala temple group, but still not on most itineraries.

If youā€™re planning a Mysore or Bangalore trip, keep this on your list.

Samode Palace near Jaipur, Rajasthan is a 16th-century Rajput palace that has been beautifully restored and turned into a heritage hotel.

Known for its fresco ceilings, blue rooms, and Sheesh Mahal mirror work, this historic palace is located about 45 km from Jaipur and makes a perfect cultural day trip.

šŸ“Sariska Tiger Reserve, is about 2.5 to 3 hours from Jaipur.

Went for our first safari. No tiger sightings this time, but we saw deer, birds and the quiet beauty of the forest.

I experienced this with my daughter, and that made it truly special. Sometimes the experience matters more than the checklist.

Built in the 16th century by the rulers of the Samode Rajput clan, this palace is a former royal residence turned heritage landmark.

Located approx. 45 km from Jaipur, Rajasthan, it makes for a perfect half-day cultural escape.

The palace has also been used as a filming location for international productions, including scenes from The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Watching my mum experience Jaipur with me and my daughter was a full-circle moment šŸ§”

From walking through the royal corridors of Amber Fort, to pausing by the calm waters of Jal Mahal, and standing in awe of the iconic Hawa Mahal, every step felt like a blessing.

šŸ“Jew Town, Kochi

I visited Jew Town, in Fort Kochi, Kerala .Itā€™s a small street, but thereā€™s a lot to notice when you walk through it. the shops, the colours, the old signboards, and the quiet vibe that makes the lane feel beautiful.

At the end of the street is the Paradesi Synagogue, built in 1568.

One thing I didnā€™t know before coming here is that the synagogue once shared a wall with a Hindu temple. That part genuinely caught my attention, two different places of worship standing right next to each other.

Inside, the tiles, lamps and small details tell you how many influences have passed through this place over the years. Even the clock tower outside shows time in three scripts.
