PURUSHA & PRAKRITI "The Seer & The Seen" 🌿
One of the most beautiful concepts I am learning through Yoga is the distinction between Purusha and Prakriti.
Prakriti is everything that changes, our body, thoughts, emotions, senses, memories, personality and the world around us.
Purusha is the Seer, the pure awareness that observes all these changes.
We often say-
“I am angry.”
“I am anxious.”
“I am tired.”
“I am failing.”
Yoga invites us to pause and recognise:
“Anger is present in me, but I am the one who is aware of it.”
The thought changes.
The emotion changes.
The body changes.
Our circumstances change.
But the Seer remains the witness.
Perhaps this is one of the most profound purposes of Yoga to learn to distinguish what we experience from who we truly are.
🧘♀️ My Yoga journey continues…
I am currently pursuing a 500-hour Teacher Training Course (TTC) from The Yoga Institute, Mumbai, and I’m discovering that Yoga is far more than asana.
It is a way of understanding the body, mind, behaviour, consciousness and ultimately ourselves.
And the more I learn, the more I realise that Yoga isn't just something we practise on the mat.
It is something we learn to live.
