This World Mosquito Day, 20th August 2026 Over 125 years ago, on this day, Sir Ronald Ross made a discovery that changed the world — he proved that female Anopheles mosquitoes spread malaria. That one discovery gave us knowledge about the cause of some deadly diseases.
Even today, mosquitoes are still the deadliest creatures on earth.
They don’t need much. Just a small puddle. A tiny gap in your window. A moment of carelessness. And with that, they bring malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and Zika right into our homes.
The good news? We can stop them. This World Mosquito Day, take 3 simple actions:
Dry - Don’t let water stagnate. Empty pots, coolers, and buckets.
Cover - Keep water drums closed. Use nets on windows and doors.
Protect - Use repellents, wear full sleeves, and sleep under bed nets.Big diseases often start from small openings.
Don’t give them the chance.
Keep your space protected.
Keep mosquitoes out.
