Standing at the top of Shankaracharya Hill, looking out over Srinagar, my heart felt completely empty—and entirely full.

As a displaced Kashmiri Pandit, returning here is complicated. You feel the heavy void of what was lost.
Gazing at the Srinagar valley from Shankaracharya Temple is a bittersweet ache for any displaced Pandit. You are looking at a home that feels both yours and not yours.

The silence of an interrupted history.But looking at Shiva, I realized: Shiva is Shunya. Zero.

He is the absolute void, but he is also the birthplace of infinity.Being displaced emptied us out. But standing on this sacred peak, I didn't just feel the grief of exile. I felt the powerful, quiet stillness of a clean slate. The ultimate reset. Shiva is Zero. He is the neutral, quiet center unaffected by the chaos of the world. He resets everything to zero so a new cycle can take birth.

We are not destroyed; we are just waiting in the space where everything begins again. 🔱🏔️ My relationship with Kashmir might have been reset, but my connection to Him remains unbroken. We are starting from zero, but zero is where infinity lives. ❤️🔱

Just like Shiva resets the universe to zero, we must learn to reset our minds. Holding onto anger, grief, or the heavy weight of the past creates emotional toxicity that physical food can never cure.

Letting go isn’t weakness; it is the ultimate mental detox. When you return your mind to 'zero'—to absolute peace—your body finally stops fighting itself. True health starts when your soul is at peace. 🧘‍♀️✨

The roots always remember the soil they belong to.

Returning to Kashmir after 36 years is a storm of emotions. The physical walls of the home I left as a little girl are no longer there. But standing here today with my parents and my 9-year-old son, I realise that what we lost in brick and stone, we gained in unbreakable spirit.

🏔️✨Coming back isn't about reclaiming a piece of land anymore; it is about facing the reality with a peaceful heart, knowing that our true essence can never be destroyed.

As the Bhagavad Gita gently reminds us:

"क्यूँ व्यर्थ चिंता करते हो? तुम क्या लेकर आए थे, जो तुमने खो दिया? तुमने जो लिया, यहीं से लिया। जो दिया, यहीं पर दिया।"(Why do you worry without reason? What did you bring with you that you have lost? Whatever you took, you took from here. Whatever you gave, you gave here.)

Our roots don't belong to a single coordinate. We belong to the cosmos, and the cosmos belongs to us.

When Perimenopause came looking for a storm but found me dancing 💃

Perimenopause came looking for a storm, but my body was already a sanctuary.

Because yoga was my daily anchor and positive millets were nourishing my cells, I felt the hormonal crash less.

Prevention is the highest form of nutrition.Here is what was happening at a cellular level:

🌾 Millets vs. Hormonal Chaos: When estrogen fluctuates, our cells become more resistant to insulin, leading to sudden weight gain and mood crashes. Positive millets are rich in complex carbohydrates, magnesium, and tryptophan. Tryptophan is the direct precursor to serotonin and melatonin, meaning these ancient grains literally build your mood and support your sleep from the inside out.

🧘 Yoga vs. Brain Shrinkage: Studies show that consistent yoga and meditation protect the gray matter in the brain—specifically in the hippocampus, which manages memory and emotion. As estrogen declines (which can temporarily cause brain fog), yoga acts as a neuroprotective shield, keeping the mind sharp and emotionally resilient.

Chronic inflammation spikes during perimenopause, worsening joint pain and anxiety. The antioxidants in millets, combined with the cortisol-lowering effects of yoga, kept my systemic inflammation incredibly low. However, inflammation showed up at its worse and that too in the form of Urticaria but I managed to beat it beautiful with the power of Kodo millet and bastrika Pranayam.

What is with Jammu’s sudden, massive obsession with street coconut water over the past 3 to 4 years?! 🥥😲

Living in Kolkata, I am surrounded by fresh, green coastal Daab. But over the last few years, whenever I look at what's trending back home in Jammu, I notice this explosive craze.

Coconut vendors have taken over almost every corner! Everyone seems to be chugging it for "health and hydration." But as a dietitian, I can see a major problem that most people are missing: Jammu is obsessed with the wrong coconut.
Growing up here, we never drank coconut water. Coconuts were strictly reserved as dry giri for religious rituals.

Why? Because our geography doesn't support it!This recent craze isn’t driven by nutrition; it’s driven by social media hype and clever shipping routes. Because green tender coconuts rot quickly, distributors ship hard, fully mature, brown coconuts to Jammu. They survive the long transit, but the health benefits are completely lost.

By the time you drink it in this intense summer heat:

The water has become acidic, heavy, and oily.

The essential Vitamin C and cooling enzymes have totally degraded.

It carries a dense potassium and calorie load, which is a major hidden risk for anyone managing hypertension, weight issues, or kidney health.
