An elderly patient was advised a DTPA renal scan—a standard and safe nuclear medicine investigation used worldwide to assess kidney function. Instead of seeking clarification, a family member called the hospital, abused the treating doctor, and even threatened to shoot him.

Doctors make clinical decisions based on medical science and in the best interests of their patients. Questions and concerns are always welcome, but abuse, intimidation, and threats have no place in healthcare.

Violence against healthcare professionals not only affects doctors and hospital staff but also compromises patient care and creates a culture of fear within the healthcare system.

It is time for society to stand together and say: disagreement is acceptable, questions are acceptable, but threats and violence are not.

Bladder cancer is treatable, and life after treatment can be remarkably normal.

Mr. Satyabrata Maity, a 60-year-old gentleman, underwent radical cystectomy with creation of a new bladder (orthotopic neobladder) in 2022 for bladder cancer.

Recently, he came for his follow-up visit accompanied by his daughter. His evaluation, including PET scan, kidney and liver function tests, was completely normal.

There is no evidence of cancer recurrence.

Most importantly, he is passing urine normally without leakage, and is leading a near-normal, healthy, and active life.

Thus is to remind us that timely diagnosis, proper treatment, and regular follow-up can truly change lives.

Bladder cancer is curable in many patients, and modern reconstructive surgery can help preserve quality of life with excellent functional outcomes.

We wish Mr. Maity continued good health and happiness ahead.

A Surgical Video.

Sharing a glimpse into one of the more challenging aspects of kidney cancer surgery — a robotic left partial nephrectomy for a complex hilar tumor.

These cases demand precision, planning, and meticulous ex*****on, as the tumor lies close to vital blood vessels of the kidney. With the help of robotic technology, we aim to preserve as much normal kidney as possible while ensuring complete tumor removal.

This video reflects not just a surgical procedure, but the commitment to organ preservation and better recovery for our patients.

A year ago, a family walked into my clinic from Aizawl, Mizoram—carrying silent fear, unanswered questions, and the weight of a prostate cancer diagnosis.

The wife’s eyes held worry. The children stood close, unsure… but hopeful.

We went ahead with a robotic radical prostatectomy.

Today, that same family walked back in—smiling, lighter, whole again.

The fear was gone. Life had quietly returned to normal.

But what stayed with me was their gesture.

They brought along organic local bananas from their homeland… carried all the way from Aizawl to Kolkata.

Tawlhlohpuan as a mark of respect for all my team members. This is worn proudly during traditional festivals and celebrations in Mizoram.

Not just a gift—
but love, gratitude, and a piece of their home.

It was about a family that held on, stayed strong, and came out together on the other side.

Sometimes, the most powerful part of healing… is the love that surrounds it. 🍌❤️

Prostate Cancer .
A difficult surgery.
Unexpected complications.
A long road filled with fear and setbacks.

But a wife stood strong beside her husband through it all with a smile.

Two years later—cancer controlled, life restored.

Some victories are won by surgery, and some by love.

Thank you Kajal baabu for your trust and resilience. 🙏
