🚨 Stop mixing up your Beta-Blockers! 💊❌
Propranolol, Atenolol, and Metoprolol are all beta-blockers, but giving the wrong one to a COPD or asthma patient could be dangerous! Here is the exact difference you need to know:
🫀 Beta-1 Receptors live in your Heart.
🫁 Beta-2 Receptors live in your Lungs.
• Propranolol is NON-SELECTIVE. It blocks both! It lowers your heart rate but can also cause Bronchoconstriction (narrowing your airways). That’s why it is a strict NO for COPD patients! ❌
• Metoprolol & Atenolol are CARDIO-SELECTIVE. They only target the heart to lower cardiac output and heart rate—making them much safer for hypertension and heart failure patients. 🎯🫀
