Dr. Purnendu Roy (Founder&Trustee)&Ms. Olivia Dunlop (Trustee) have adopted 1000 tiger victims! Genesis Educational and Charitable Trust (GECT) was founded in the year 2009 in Kolkata, West Bengal. Dr. Purnendu Roy single-handedly, first started operating poor people with surgeries which was free of cost in his Genesis Hospital and does the same till date. In the year 2016, Dr. Roy found out about

the tiger victim families of Sundarbans and their atrocities, then he started supporting the widowed women and fatherless children of these tiger victim families in the fields of healthcare and education. The primary working areas are Jharkhali block, Shibganj Basanti block, Gosaba block and Kultali block of Sundarbans, where the tiger victim widows, orphans, elderly people and destitute children are the major focus groups. Since then, GECT has been relentlessly providing nutritional food and health drinks (AHAAR FOR ALL), educational materials like books, exercise books, stationery items, tuition fees, clothes, healthcare facilities, safe drinking water, school shoes and socks and other basic necessities on a regular basis. The prime objective is to empower and provide a healthy and self sustained lives to the inhabitants of the targeted islands of Sundarbans. Moreover, GECT has adopted 800 families along with 1000 children taking care of their survival and education. GECT is offering vocational computer training to more than 700 hundred students in Shibganj and Mathurkhanda. GECT is also planning to start a School in Sundarbans other vocational training like stitching, nursing & hospitality to the tiger victim families children after their class XII examinations and has also set up a concrete school structure and kitchen for the mid-day meals for the children. Our Journey

Genesis Educational and Charitable Trust (GECT) was founded in the year 2009 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Our founder Dr. Purnendu Roy, first started this charitable trust to treat the poor and needy free of cost in Genesis hospital. He being a laparoscopic surgeon himself, operated and treated poor people free of cost. Then, he came across a group of widowed women and fatherless children in Sundarbans who were suffering with ill-health, diseases, starvation and in misery, seeing such atrocities Dr. Roy, immediately started supporting these tiger victim families of Sundarbans, single-handedly. We then, formed a group to serve them in a more systematic and in an organised way.

The primary working areas for GECT are Jharkhali block, Basanti block and Gosaba block of Sundarbans, where these tiger victim widows, orphans, old people and destitute children live and GECT’s provides the basic necessities to them.

We, GECT have been relentlessly working towards giving nutritional food every month, education, clothes, healthcare facilities, clean drinking water and infra-structural necessities to these families. The prime objective is to empower and provide a healthy and hazard free life to the inhabitants of the targeted islands of Sundarbans.

Moreover, GECT has also adopted 200 families that include women and children who are from various islands in Sundarbans and has taken the entire responsibility of their survival, health and education.
