The Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) expresses profound grief at the passing of Dr. Lalit Sankhe, Immediate Past Joint Secretary (West), IPHA HQ and a stalwart of public health in India.

Dr. Sankhe’s lifelong commitment to community medicine, health systems strengthening, and mentorship of young public health professionals leaves behind an enduring legacy. His wisdom, humility, and service to IPHA will be deeply missed.

We stand in solidarity with his family, colleagues, and students in this hour of loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his ideals continue to guide us.

Indian Public Health Association, one of the oldest and largest associations for public health activists in the world and Founder-Member of World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) wholeheartedly endorses and congratulates the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and all frontline health workers for the continued success of the Pulse Polio Immunization Programme.

As a nation that achieved polio-free status (free of wild poliovirus) on March 27, 2014, sustained vigilance through PPI remains our strongest shield against resurgence. IPHA salutes the unwavering dedication of ASHAs, ANMs, Anganwadi workers, medical officers, and volunteers who ensure that “Do Boond Zindagi Ki” reaches every child under five.

IPHA reaffirms its commitment to support intensified surveillance, community mobilization, and advocacy to keep India polio-free. Together, let us sustain this public health victory for future generations.

IPHA Observes International Day of Yoga at IPHA Bhaban

The Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) observed the International Day of Yoga at IPHA Bhaban, Kolkata, in collaboration with Banchbo Healing Touch Foundation.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior faculty members, public health professionals, and activists.

The session emphasized yoga’s role in preventive health, stress management, and holistic well-being, aligning with IPHA’s commitment to Health for All.

Eminent resource persons guided participants through asanas, pranayama, and meditation. The programme concluded with vote of thanks and valedictory.
