⭕️India accounts for approximately 14.5% of global sickle cell disease (SCD) cases.
⭕️over 42,000 newborns affected annually.
⭕️The all-age prevalence rate is 89.6 per 100,000 people.
⭕️Over 20 million people in India are estimated to carry the sickle cell trait.

🔴Theme: "Closing the Survival Gap: Equity in Sickle Cell Disease."
✅The four main types of sickle cell crisis are vaso-occlusive crisis (pain crisis), aplastic crisis, splenic sequestration crisis, and hemolytic crisis.
