Biocalculus

Biocalculus Empowering clinicians to monitor cardiac rhythms remotely for better patient care.

Biocalculus helps the clinicians to procure and analyse the cardiac rhythms of patients and thereby also identifying the abnormalities in patients suspected of early cardiac symptoms. The recording can be conveniently performed outside the clinical environment as prescribed by the physician.

โค๏ธ Palpitations are a symptom. The rhythm tells the story.

A racing, fluttering, pounding, or skipped heartbeat can feel alarmingโ€”but palpitations can have different underlying causes.

The rhythm behind the symptom matters.

๐Ÿซ€ PACs โ€” premature beats originating in the atria
๐Ÿซ€ PVCs โ€” premature beats originating in the ventricles
๐Ÿซ€ SVT โ€” rapid rhythm originating above the ventricles
๐Ÿซ€ AF โ€” an irregularly irregular rhythm originating in the atria

The key is not just asking โ€œWhat does the patient feel?โ€ but also โ€œWhat rhythm is occurring when they feel it?โ€

Continuous or extended ECG monitoring can help capture intermittent rhythm abnormalities that may otherwise be missed.

Donโ€™t just listen to the heartbeat. Capture the rhythm.

Your heart just skipped a beat. Should you worry?

Palpitations are one of the most common โ€” and most misunderstood โ€” sensations. Sometimes they're your heart telling you it drank too much coffee. Sometimes they're an early warning of something serious.

Here's a quick guide to tell them apart ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐ŸŸข USUALLY HARMLESS
โœ“ Lasts only a few seconds
โœ“ After coffee, stress, or exercise
โœ“ Occasional single skipped beat
โœ“ Goes away when you relax
โœ“ No other symptoms alongside
โœ“ Around your menstrual cycle (for women)

๐Ÿ”ด GET IT CHECKED
โš  Lasts more than a few minutes
โš  Comes with chest pain or pressure
โš  Causes fainting or near-fainting
โš  Happens with shortness of breath
โš  Wakes you up from sleep
โš  Family history of arrhythmia or sudden cardiac death

The hard part: palpitations come and go. Even the concerning ones may vanish before your appointment โ€” leaving your doctor with a normal ECG and no answer.

That's exactly why long-term ambulatory ECG monitoring exists. A 3, 7, or 30-day continuous recording catches every irregularity โ€” including the ones you don't feel.

Biocalculus is a lightweight wearable ECG patch built for this gap. Because the answer to "should I be worried?" deserves better than a shrug.

๐Ÿ“Œ Save this post. Share it with someone who dismisses their symptoms.

๐Ÿซ€ When Your Heart Needs a Closer Look
Most people think heart problems always come with an obvious warning sign. They don't.
Conditions like silent AFib (atrial fibrillation) can hide in plain sight โ€” showing up as symptoms we often brush off as "just stress" or "just getting older."

Here are 6 signs it may be time to ask your doctor about extended heart monitoring:

1๏ธโƒฃ Unexplained palpitations โ€” your heart flutters or races for no clear reason
2๏ธโƒฃ Fainting spells โ€” you've fainted or nearly fainted
3๏ธโƒฃ Sudden dizziness โ€” lightheadedness that hits without warning
4๏ธโƒฃ Rapid heart rate at rest โ€” racing heartbeat while you're doing nothing
5๏ธโƒฃ Chest discomfort โ€” pressure or fullness without a clear cause
6๏ธโƒฃ Stroke of unclear cause โ€” silent AFib may be the hidden trigger

A standard EKG only captures a snapshot in time. If your heart's irregularities are intermittent, they can easily go undetected โ€” until something more serious happens.
If any of these sound familiar, don't wait it out. Talk to your doctor about extended cardiac monitoring. Early detection can make all the difference.

Longer monitoring windows catch what shorter ones miss.

Biocalculus is an AI-powered ambulatory cardiac monitor built for extended-wear studies โ€” up to 30 days of continuous ECG, with reports verified by cardiologists before they reach the referring physician.

Designed and manufactured in India. Trusted by clinicians across the country for AFib screening, syncope workup, and post-ablation follow-up.

Her stroke had no explanation. The 24-hour Holter was clean. She was discharged on aspirin.

The rhythm that caused it was still there. It just wasn't recording that day.

Around 1 in 4 ischemic strokes is cryptogenic โ€” no cause identified after the standard workup. In a meaningful share of these patients the cause isn't missing. It's intermittent.

Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation is frequently silent, and it does not schedule itself around a one-day recording.

The trial that settled this used an external monitor:
EMBRACE randomised patients with recent cryptogenic stroke to a 30-day external event recorder or an additional 24-hour Holter.
โ†’ AF detected in 16.1% with 30-day monitoring, versus 3.2% with Holter.
โ†’ Number needed to screen: 8.
Eight patients monitored for longer. One AF diagnosis found. One patient moved from antiplatelet therapy to anticoagulation โ€” the most effective secondary prevention we have.
The device didn't get smarter. It just kept listening.

This is not a rare disease problem. It is a duration problem โ€” and duration is something we can change.

Extended, AI-assisted ambulatory ECG: days of continuous rhythm, triaged by algorithm, confirmed by a clinician.

That's what Biocalculus was built for.
Neurologists and cardiologists โ€” what does your post-stroke monitoring protocol look like today, and has it changed in the last five years?

Up to 1 in 2,000 people carry an ECG pattern that can kill without warning โ€” and most will never see it on a routine ECG.

Brugada Syndrome hides in plain sight. The diagnostic Type 1 pattern is dynamic: it surfaces during sleep, fever, or vagal states, then disappears. A patient can walk out of a clinic with a perfectly normal tracing and still be at risk.

For clinicians, that creates a hard problem: how do you catch a signature that refuses to show up on schedule?

Three things help:
1๏ธโƒฃ High suspicion โ€” unexplained syncope, or a family history of sudden death under 45
2๏ธโƒฃ ECG during fever โ€” sodium-channel dysfunction is temperature-sensitive, and febrile states unmask the Type 1 pattern
3๏ธโƒฃ Extended ambulatory monitoring โ€” so nocturnal and transient events aren't missed
Continuous ECG across sleep and daily life โ€” analysed by AI, reviewed by clinicians โ€” turns a game of chance into a systematic search.
That's the gap Biocalculus was built to close.

Every defender knows him. Unmarked. Unpredictable. Invisible for 89 minutes then the net ripples.

Atrial Fibrillation plays exactly like that. It ghosts through routine check-ups, hides between episodes, and strikes when no monitor is watching. And with AFib, a goal conceded can mean a stroke silent episodes raise stroke risk roughly five-fold.

A 24-hour Holter marks him for one match. Biocalculus marks him for the whole tournament: one wireless ECG patch, 1 to 31 days of continuous full-disclosure monitoring, AI-assisted beat-level analysis that flags AFib the moment it makes its run.

You don't catch a ghost in 24 hours.

Most heart rhythm problems don't announce themselves with a dramatic moment they whisper first.

Fatigue that won't go away. A flutter you brush off as anxiety. Dizziness you blame on standing up too fast.

These small signals are often the earliest clues of arrhythmia and catching them early is what continuous ECG monitoring is built for.

Swipe through to see 4 signs worth paying attention to ๐Ÿ‘† and why remote cardiac monitoring is changing how early we catch them.

At Biocalculus, we believe better data should reach physicians before a crisis does โ€” not after.
