DC chairs meeting of Governing Body/Executive Committee of District AYUSH Society Kulgam

KULGAM, JULY 10:

A review meeting of the Governing Body/Executive Committee of the District AYUSH Society Kulgam was held at the Mini Secretariat Kulgam, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC), Shahzad Alam.

During the meeting, Dr. Abdul Rehman Rather, Nodal Officer, AYUSH, Kulgam, presented a detailed presentation on the implementation, progress, and achievements of various schemes under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) in the district.

The Chair reviewed the progress of the schemes and emphasized timely implementation, effective inter-departmental coordination, and regular monitoring to ensure the successful ex*****on of National AYUSH Mission activities and the strengthening of AYUSH healthcare services across the district.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Executive Engineers, and other district officers.

As part of his comprehensive visit to Kulgam district to review developmental works and flagship schemes under the DISHA committee, the Hon’ble Member of Parliament (MP) for the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency, Mian Altaf Ahmad, visited the specialized exhibition stalls organized by various government departments at the Mini Secretariat.
​Among the key highlights of the exhibition was the AYUSH Department’s special stall, established to promote traditional Indian systems of medicine, including Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.

The 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY 2026) was celebrated with immense enthusiasm and high participation in the lawns of the Mini Secretariat Kulgam. The mega event was organized by the Department of AYUSH Kulgam in close collaboration with the District Administration Kulgam.
Key Highlights of the Celebration
Distinguished Gathering: The event was led by Senior Officers of the District Administration, including the Deputy Commissioner of Kulgam and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). It witnessed an active turnout from various departmental officers, staff, local youths, and school students.
Global Theme Alignment: In line with the global 2026 theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing", the event emphasized expanding health span, building mental resilience, and adopting holistic wellness practices across all stages of life.
Common Yoga Protocol (CYP): Certified yoga instructors from the Department of AYUSH guided the massive gathering through a series of breathing exercises (Pranayama), physical postures (Asanas), and meditation techniques.
Holistic Health Advocacy: Addressing the participants, administrative heads highlighted yoga as an invaluable, ancient lifestyle intervention crucial for mitigating modern stress, managing non-communicable lifestyle disorders, and promoting overall physical and mental well-being.
