CMO Kulgam Holds Monthly Review Meeting on Health Programmes
Kulgam, August 27, 2026: Chief Medical Officer Kulgam, Dr. Shaukat Hussain Parray, today chaired a monthly review meeting to assess the progress of key health programmes being implemented across the district.

The meeting was attended by all Block Medical Officers, Nodal Officers, the District Programme Manager and other concerned officials. Detailed reviews were conducted on NCD, NTEP, NQAS, RBSK, ABHA ID, Ayushman Bharat, Cancer Care, Anti-Rabies and other ongoing health programmes.

The CMO reviewed programme-wise targets, achievements, reporting and field-level implementation. He directed the officers to strengthen monitoring, ensure timely reporting and improve service delivery. He also stressed enhanced screening, early detection, beneficiary coverage and effective implementation of all health programmes.
Dr. Shaukat Hussain Parray called for close coordination,accountability and result-oriented efforts to ensure quality healthcare services reach every eligible beneficiary across District Kulgam.

CMO Kulgam Issues Public Advisory on Dog Bite Prevention and Anti-Rabies Care

Kulgam, August 26, 2026: Chief Medical Officer Kulgam, Dr. Shaukat Hussain Parray, has issued a public advisory urging people to remain alert around stray and unfamiliar dogs and to take immediate medical care following any dog bite.

The advisory stresses that the bite wound should be washed thoroughly with soap and running water for 15 minutes, followed by immediate medical consultation. The public has been advised to complete the prescribed Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV) course and receive Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) and other treatment when medically indicated.

People have been cautioned against applying chilli, turmeric, oil, mud, ash or other unproven remedies to bite wounds and against delaying treatment. Citizens are also advised not to tease, chase or handle stray or suspected rabid dogs and to keep children away from unfamiliar animals.

Dr. Shaukat Hussain Parray appealed to the public to remain vigilant and cooperate in creating a rabies-free Kulgam. He emphasized that timely post-exposure care can prevent rabies.

CMO Kulgam Visits NTPHC Nandimarg to Assess Healthcare Services

Kulgam, August 23, 2026: Chief Medical Officer Kulgam, along with officers of the CMO Office, today visited NTPHC Nandimarg, Block DH Pora, to assess the availability of healthcare services, staff position and overall functioning of the health facility.

During the visit, the team reviewed the healthcare services being provided at the centre and assessed the availability of staff and essential facilities. The CMO interacted with the staff and stressed the importance of ensuring uninterrupted, accessible and quality healthcare services to the local population.

The concerned BMO, Block DH Pora, was directed to make every possible effort to ensure the availability of a doctor at the health centre and make appropriate staff arrangements so that patients do not face any inconvenience.

The CMO further directed the concerned officers to closely monitor the functioning of the centre and ensure that necessary corrective measures are taken promptly.

Hon’ble Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare, Sakeena Masood Itoo, inaugurated key healthcare and infrastructure facilities at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Nehama, Kulgam, marking another step towards strengthening healthcare services in remote areas.
The newly inaugurated facilities include a 30 KVA Genset installed at a cost of ₹10 lakh, a 20-bedded inpatient ward, and a CBC Analyzer, which will significantly enhance power backup, patient care and diagnostic services at the health centre.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister reiterated the government's commitment to upgrading healthcare infrastructure, strengthening manpower and improving diagnostic facilities at PHCs and CHCs across Jammu & Kashmir.

Health Minister Inaugurates Key Healthcare Facilities at PHC Nehama

Kulgam, August 20, 2026: Hon’ble Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare, Sakeena Masood Itoo, today inaugurated key healthcare facilities at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Nehama, Kulgam, aimed at further strengthening healthcare delivery in the area.

The Hon’ble Minister inaugurated a 30 KVA Genset, installed at a cost of ₹10 lakh, with 20-bedded ward, and a CBC Analyzer at the health centre. The facilities are expected to enhance power backup, inpatient care and diagnostic services, thereby benefiting the local population.

The inauguration was held in the presence of Sub District Magistrate (SDM) D.H. Pora Bashir-ul-Hassan, Cheif Medical Officer(CMO) Kulgam Dr. Showkat Hussain Parray, Dr A'R Shan (BMO) Kulgam, besides other health officials, doctors and paramedical staff.

On the occasion, the Hon’ble Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring accessible, affordable and quality health services at the grassroots level.

The health officials expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister for her continued support towards upgrading healthcare infrastructure and improving patient-care facilities across the district.

Day Second: CMO Kulgam Conducts Late-Night Surprise Inspection of SDH, PHCs

Kulgam, August 15: Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kulgam, Dr. Showkat Hussain Parray, conducted a late-night surprise inspection of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Yaripora and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) at L.G. Pora, Bugam and Qaimoh at around 10:00 pm today.

During the inspection, the CMO reviewed the functioning of the health institutions, availability of essential healthcare services, staff presence and overall arrangements during night hours. He also interacted with the staff and directed them to ensure timely and quality healthcare services to patients without any inconvenience.

Dr. Showkat Hussain Parray emphasized punctuality, discipline and accountability among healthcare personnel and stressed the need for smooth and efficient delivery of healthcare services, particularly during night hours.

He said that surprise inspections would continue across the district to monitor the functioning of health institutions and further improve patient care and service delivery.
