Sakeena Itoo launches Pulse Polio Immunization drive from District Hospital Kulgam

KULGAM, JUNE 28: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, today launched the Pulse Polio Immunization drive from the District Hospital Kulgam by administering polio drops to a newborn baby.

Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, Director Family welfare J&K, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent and other officers were also present.

The Minister emphasized that immunization is one of the most effective measures to protect the children from preventable diseases and ensure a healthy future for the younger generation. She urged the parents and caregivers to bring all children in the 0-5 years age group to the nearest vaccination centres and ensure that no child is left out of the immunization campaign. She stressed that achieving and sustaining a polio-free status requires active community participation and collective responsibility.

Sakeena Itoo also commended the healthcare professionals and frontline workers for their unwavering commitment to child health. She called for intensified awareness efforts to make the Pulse Polio programme a complete success.

The Health Minister expressed confidence that with sustained public cooperation and dedicated efforts of the health department, the objective of reaching every eligible child can be successfully achieved.

CMO Kulgam Clarifies There Is No Medicine Shortage in District PHCs

NHM J&K Reviews Functioning of AAMs, Identifies Key Gaps in Healthcare Service Delivery

Kulgam, June 23:Representatives of the Mission Directorate, National Health Mission (NHM) Jammu and Kashmir comprising of Dr Akhtar Wani ,Dr Musa Imtiyaz,Dr Mir Mohd Iqbal and Mr Jamsheed Bakshi conducted a review meeting on Tuesday to assess the functioning of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) and various national health programmes across the district. The Meeting was attended by BMOs,DPMU,BPMU,MLHPs,store keepers and RBSK Teams

During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted which was followed by orientation and facilitation for effective implementation of the programmes.
The various sessions focussed on Effective implementation of Anaemia Mukt Bharat programme at grads root level through AAMs and in convergence with ICDS and Education departmen.
Another session focussed on effective DVDMS implementation . It was stressed to generate rational demands for drugs and diagnostics so as to make availability of Essential diagnostics and drugs available at the health centres.
The District Store Keeper along with Block store keepers shall make a rational demand so as to provide effective services to the people.
Besides , the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) was reviewed and instructions were passed to all Health centres to conduct Internal assesments and identify the gaps for intervention.

For smooth implementation and functioning of the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) ,it was instructed that RBSK team shall be primarily utilised for RBSK Programe so as to improve indicators of the programme. The ANM/ Pharmacists shall upload the Hb screening on the Uwin portal.
The MLHPs shall not be put on night duties and shall implement the CPHC effectively at AAM level.

The Incharge PHCs shall be responsible for implementation of programmes at PHC level.

Medical Aid Units Established at Mela Kheer Bhawani Asthapan Manzgam and Devsar

Kulgam, June 22: To ensure the health and well-being of devotees attending the annual Mela Kheer Bhawani celebrations, the Health Department Kulgam established Medical Aid Units at the historic Asthapan Manzgam and Devsar shrine premises on Monday.

The facilities were set up on the directions of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kulgam and under the supervision of Block Medical Officer (BMO) DH Pora, Dr. Ashiq Hussain, and BMO Qazigund.
Dedicated teams of doctors, paramedical staff, and healthcare workers were deployed at both locations with essential medicines, first-aid supplies, and emergency medical equipment to provide immediate healthcare services to pilgrims and visitors throughout the mela.

The Medical Aid Units remained operational during the celebrations, ensuring prompt medical assistance and emergency care whenever required. Health officials closely monitored the arrangements to facilitate a safe and comfortable experience for devotees participating in the religious event.

Officials stated that all necessary healthcare measures had been put in place to effectively handle any medical emergencies and provide timely assistance to the large number of pilgrims visiting the revered shrines. The initiative was aimed at ensuring uninterrupted medical support and enhancing the overall safety and welfare of devotees during the annual religious gathering.

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Speciality Hospital Organizes Free Health Checkup Camp at District Hospital Kulgam

Kulgam, June 8: A special free cardiac screening and consultation camp was organized at District Hospital Kulgam by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Speciality Hospital in collaboration with District Hospital Kulgam.

The camp witnessed an overwhelming response from the public, with hundreds of patients availing themselves of free cardiac screening, diagnostic check-ups, and expert medical consultations. A team of experienced cardiologists and healthcare professionals examined patients and provided specialized medical advice regarding the prevention and management of heart-related ailments.

Speaking on the occasion, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kulgam, Dr. Syed Masood, said that the primary objective of organizing such camps is to provide better healthcare facilities at the doorstep of patients and ensure access to specialized medical services for people of the district.

He informed that the Health Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Speciality Hospital to facilitate specialized treatment and consultations in departments that are not presently available at District Hospital Kulgam, including Cardiology, Oncology, and Neurosurgery.

Dr. Masood said that under this collaboration, expert teams from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Speciality Hospital regularly visit the district to provide advanced medical consultations and healthcare services, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the district for specialized treatment.

The participants appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that more such camps would be organized in the future to improve access to quality healthcare services in Kulgam.
