Behaviour is not always “misbehaviour”—sometimes, it is communication.

An autistic child may use behaviour to express sensory overload, discomfort, fear, frustration, fatigue or an unmet need when words are difficult.

Instead of asking, “Why is the child doing this?” let us ask, “What is the child trying to communicate?”
