We often call ourselves "modern" because our lifestyles, gadgets, fashion, and material comforts have changed. But modernization is not only about upgrading the outer world; it is also about evolving the inner world.
Many of us have adopted terms like "space," "privacy," and "personal boundaries" by imitating Western culture, without truly understanding their psychological meaning. Healthy boundaries, emotional awareness, and respectful privacy are not excuses for emotional distance or secrecy.
Unfortunately, our society rarely teaches emotional literacy—how to understand emotions, communicate difficult feelings, regulate reactions, or set healthy boundaries with empathy and responsibility.
True modernization means becoming emotionally mature, learning to communicate openly, respecting individuality, and creating relationships where people feel both safe and connected.
Being modern is not just about what we own or what terms we use. It is about how we understand ourselves and how we relate to others. 💛
