We observe WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK from August 1st to August 7th every year, as an initiative to promote and support Breastfeeding, which is a noble cause. The right education should be imparted to the general public regarding the same.
In the same regard, no one should FORCE a new mother to COMPULSORILY breastfeed her child.
That is and should be solely her and her husband's decision.
Specially in case of Latching issue , Milk production, Breastfeeding postures, Maternal or neonatal complications due to which breastfeeding is not getting established, the already perplexed mother SHOULD NOT be burdened on to keep on trying.
There is no harm in looking for alternatives , such as Top feed or encouraging the use of Breastpump. The Mother's Mental and Physical Health should also be taken care of.
Sadly no one throws light on such issues because its not something to be spoken about, apparently.
That norm should change. The expectant mother should be given proper guidance and made known about all her available options regarding feeding the baby, along with the ANTENATAL CARE.
Why is it expected that a first time Mother should know everything on her own? Or even a second / third time mother? A New Mommy will need care and support as much as the new baby. Please encourage that as well.
