On the eve of World Health Day, it is both timely and imperative to reflect upon the transformative evolution of healthcare in the digital era,where artificial intelligence, precision medicine, and molecular diagnostics are redefining the very foundations of clinical practice.

Healthcare is no longer confined to conventional paradigms. The integration of digital health ecosystems—including electronic health records, telemedicine, and real-time data analytics—has significantly enhanced accessibility, continuity, and efficiency of care delivery. Simultaneously, artificial intelligence is emerging as a powerful adjunct to clinical expertise,enabling improved diagnostic accuracy, predictive analytics, and workflow optimization across specialties, including pathology, radiology, and laboratory medicine.

However, with innovation comes responsibility. The ethical and responsible deployment of AI remains paramount. Issues of data privacy, algorithmic bias, transparency, and accountability must be addressed with scientific rigor and regulatory oversight to ensure that technological advancement translates into equitable and trustworthy healthcare systems.

I am pleased to have successfully completed the NPTEL+ online workshop “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence for Clinicians" conducted under the aegis of Indian Institute of Technology Madras through its Wadhwani School of AI.

The workshop, delivered by esteemed faculty including Prof. Balaji Srinivasan and Prof. Ganapathy Krishnamurthi, provided a structured and clinically relevant introduction to the foundational principles of artificial intelligence and its translational potential in healthcare. The sessions effectively bridged theoretical concepts with practical clinical applications, reinforcing the evolving role of AI in enhancing diagnostic precision and decision-making.
