Dengue? Don’t Focus Only on Platelet Count! 🩸

In dengue, platelet count gets most of the attention but a rapid drop can sometimes be associated with complications like fluid leakage. That’s why doctors may consider other findings along with the platelet trend and symptoms.

An Ultrasound can help assess whether fluid is collecting in the abdomen or chest and whether the liver or spleen is enlarged. However, this scan is not required for every dengue patient.

If fever continues for more than 2-3 days or the platelet count is falling, consult your doctor to understand whether further evaluation is needed.

🚨 क्या फिर से H1N1 फैल रहा है? और कब कराएं HRCT CHEST?

बुखार, खांसी और बदन दर्द होते ही घबराकर CT कराने की जरूरत नहीं है। H1N1 की पुष्टि HRCT से नहीं होती—इसके लिए डॉक्टर की सलाह के अनुसार flu testing/RT-PCR की जरूरत पड़ सकती है।

लेकिन कुछ warning signs को बिल्कुल ignore न करें 👇

🫁 सांस फूलना या सांस लेने में तकलीफ
📉 Oxygen level गिरना
🌡️ लगातार या बढ़ता हुआ बुखार
😷 खांसी और chest symptoms लगातार बढ़ना
⚠️ बीमारी ठीक होने की बजाय लगातार बिगड़ना

ऐसी स्थिति में डॉक्टर की सलाह पर HRCT Chest फेफड़ों में infection की extent और pneumonia जैसी complications को assess करने में मदद कर सकता है।

❗ हर H1N1 patient को HRCT की जरूरत नहीं होती।
सही patient में, सही समय पर, सही investigation—यही सबसे जरूरी है।

Why Is MRI Different for Children? 👶🧠

MRI can be challenging for children because they need to stay completely still during the scan. Even a small movement can blur the images and may require the scan to be repeated.

That’s why children are given extra time to get comfortable with the machine. Trained staff help them feel relaxed and in some centers, features like in-bore cinema can make the experience easier. If needed, sedation may be considered by the doctor based on the child’s age and weight.

If your child is scheduled for an MRI, talk to the imaging team beforehand and understand how they plan to make the scan comfortable and successful.
