Fatigue, hair thinning, weight gain despite normal thyroid levels? Your thyroid isn’t the problem — your gut is.

Ayurveda calls this the gut-thyroid axis, now backed by modern science. Weak Agni → poor nutrient absorption → depleted rasa dhatu → weak thyroid. Modern medicine shows your gut microbiome supports the Deiodinase enzyme, which converts inactive T4 into active T3.

Here’s what to do:

1. **Coconut oil** — 1 tsp on an empty stomach each morning. MCTs boost quick energy conversion, metabolic rate, and thyroid function.

2. **Selenium** — Soak 2 Brazil nuts overnight, eat empty stomach in the morning. Selenium is a cofactor for the Deiodinase enzyme.

3. **Skip goitrogens, boost iodine** — Avoid cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage (they block iodine absorption) if hypothyroid. Instead, use iodized salt (Tata namak), and add strawberries, nori, seaweed, kelp, or vegan sushi.

Waking up at 2–3 a.m. isn’t anxiety or random insomnia — it’s the liver signaling overload. In Ayurveda, 10 p.m.–2 a.m. is peak liver detox time, and modern diets (processed foods, seed oils, refined/sticky foods) overburden it, causing that 2 a.m. wake-up. Melatonin won’t fix it.

Three fixes:

1. Beetroot, ginger, lemon juice — daily in the evening, no solid food after 7 p.m. Beetroot’s betaine supports phase-two liver detox, lemon’s D-limonene boosts detox enzymes, ginger cuts inflammation. Do this for 2+ weeks.

2. **Dandelion tea** — boosts bile production (~40%), easing the liver’s workload at bedtime.

3. Golden milk before bed — warm plant milk with ¼ tsp turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, optional ghee/cashew butter, no sugar (cinnamon and nutmeg optional). Curcumin activates the liver’s Nrf2 detox pathway; piperine boosts curcumin absorption ~2000%; cinnamon steadies blood sugar; nutmeg aids sleep.

Top 5 cold-pressed juices, backed by Ayurveda and modern science, to detox your gut and boost overall health:

1. Carrot, Beetroot & Amla – The real ABC juice. Carrot and beetroot’s betaine supports liver detox; amla brings 20x the vitamin C of lemon. Drink empty stomach. Boil beetroot first if it causes bloating.

2. Celery & Cucumber – Celery cuts inflammation (even used for cancer patients); cucumber flushes the kidneys and cools Pitta. Add a teaspoon of moringa for a boost.

3. Cilantro & Parsley – The heavy-metal detox combo. Removes 75-90% of mercury and cadmium. Safe for kids too.

4. Ash Gourd (Petha) – Rich in vitamin C, pulls out overnight Ama and relieves constipation. Skip if you have a cold, cough, or fever — it lowers body temperature.

5. Banana Stem – The weight-loss powerhouse. Reduces water retention and helps dissolve kidney/gallbladder stones. Drink fresh — it oxidizes fast.

All five are tridoshic and suitable for every body type.

Try them for two weeks and watch your skin and gut transform.

Did you know aluminum foil could be linked to Alzheimer’s and brain damage? Postmortem studies on Alzheimer’s patients found heavy aluminum deposits in brain tissue. Wrapping hot, acidic food in foil can transfer 3-4mg of aluminum per serving — more than your body can safely process, straining your liver, kidneys, and nervous system over time.

Ayurveda’s fix: swap aluminum for copper (drinking water), brass (serving), glass (storing), and clay (slow cooking).

3 ways to detox heavy metals:

1️⃣ Ditch foil for parchment paper or banana leaves — banana leaf adds alkalizing phytocompounds to your food.

2️⃣ Cook in clay pots (retains 95-98% nutrients) or a cast iron tawa (boosts iron — great for women, especially during periods).

3️⃣ Drink coriander + parsley juice each morning. Both bind to heavy metals in your bloodstream and flush them out through urine and stool. Blend with water, strain, add pink salt + cumin. Drink empty stomach for 21-30 days.

Here’s to a healthy gut and a healthy you 💚

5,600 patients. 74 countries. One common thread.

Depression, anxiety, cancer, PCOS, thyroid, diabetes — didn’t matter what brought them to me. They all had gut dysbiosis. Undiagnosed. Unnoticed. But present — for years — before it became disease.

Why your gut matters:
🔹 70% of your immune system lives there
🔹 70-95% of your serotonin is made there
🔹 It talks to your brain via the vagus nerve — your largest nerve pathway, shaping mood, focus & emotional balance

3 ways to heal it:

1️⃣ Right Food — Your gut lining can regenerate in 3-5 days. Try a mono-diet of Mung Bean Khichdi (equal parts protein, carbs, veg + turmeric, cumin, ghee) for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Gives your liver and gut real rest.

2️⃣ Right Rhythm — Eat with the sun. Light breakfast, biggest meal at midday, light dinner before sunset. No solid food post-sunset — it disrupts sleep and the next day’s rhythm.

3️⃣ Right Sleep — Sleep 10pm-6am. 10pm-2am is when your liver detoxes and gut repairs itself.

Right food. Right rhythm. Right rest. That’s how your gut — and you — heal.

Your tongue is a daily report card on your gut health.

White coating → Kapha imbalance (excess dairy, cold foods)
Yellow coating → Pitta imbalance (liver overload, inflammation)
Brown/black coating → Vata imbalance (deep rooted gut damage)

Your tongue holds powerful lymphatic vessels that release toxins overnight from fermenting food in your gut. Here’s how to reset it every morning.

1. Scrape your tongue with a copper scraper. Copper kills unhealthy bacteria on the tongue’s surface. Scraping releases Ama, the toxic residue from undigested food, instead of letting you swallow it back in. Just 21 days of this can improve oral bacteria by nearly 70 percent.

2. Oil pull (Gandusha). Swish 1 tsp sesame or coconut oil for 5 to 15 minutes, then spit it out, never swallow. It draws out fat soluble toxins through the oral mucosa and works as well as mouthwash for fresh breath and gum health.

3. Start your day with Trikatu. Mix equal parts dried ginger, black pepper, and long pepper with 1 tsp honey. Take on an empty stomach. This clears mucus, the breeding ground for unhealthy bacteria, so your gut can heal itself.

Tongue scraping, oil pulling, Trikatu. Three simple steps to a cleaner tongue and a healthier gut.

Here’s to a healthy gut, a healthy you!

Suffering from PMS? Or is she?

The rage. The bloating. The chest tenderness. Modern science calls it PMS. Ayurveda calls it your liver asking for help.

Here’s why: your liver clears excess estrogen during the first 14 days of your cycle. But synthetic foods, alcohol, carbonated drinks, and spicy fermented foods overburden it. When progesterone drops before your period, that trapped estrogen spikes — triggering bloating, water retention, indigestion, and rage.

What to do, 2 weeks before your period:

1. Cool your liver down
Cut spicy, fermented, hot foods — capsicum, onion, garlic, radish. Skip meat, seafood, eggs. Go whole food plant-based, high fiber.

2. Eat cooling + bitter
Cucumber, zucchini, apples, berries, cherries, grapes. Celery juice to cut liver inflammation. Bitter gourd for hydration. Fenugreek (methi) seeds to reduce estrogen dominance.

3. Sip these teas
Fennel + coriander tea (2 tsp each, boiled in 2 cups water, sipped through the day). One cup dandelion tea in the evening. Both calm Pitta — the heat and sharpness in the blood that drives PMS.

Your liver is the seat of Pitta. Cool it, and the estrogen spike - and the symptoms - start to settle.

Wake up flat but bloat like six months pregnant by bedtime? It’s not your gut bacteria, it’s your Apana Vata (downward-moving wind principle) that’s imbalanced.

Throughout the day, foods react and produce gas. If it doesn’t release, it gets trapped in your colon, causing that evening bloat.

Fix it with these 3 Ayurvedic tools:

1. Hing (asafetida) water: pinch of Hing + pink salt + water at bedtime. Releases trapped gas from stomach to colon. Also add a pinch when cooking dals, legumes, and pulses to prevent gas formation.

2. Castor oil: 1 tsp at bedtime. Contains recinolic acid (Aranya Thailam in Ayurveda) which penetrates gut layers to clear undigested food, mucus, and toxins. 3 nights in a row can eliminate bloating completely.

3. Walk 100 steps after dinner: don’t sit immediately. Your legs act like blender blades, moving food downward for proper digestion. Follow with Malasana (squat pose) and 5 deep breaths to activate Apana Vata release.

Less bloat, better mornings.
