Housing a yoga studio, a boutique and a health food restaurant, the concept of The Yoga House

has been designed to share a system of living based on authenticity and awareness. Our aim is to provide our guests a better understanding and respect of the body and mind to help them to participate more actively and joyfully in their daily life. We are considering Yoga as the most valuable Indian inheritance of the present and believe it is an essential need of today. The Yoga House food concept is a subtle combination of cutting-edge macrobiotic recipes and ancient dietary wisdom and traditions. Located in an antique bungalow along the tranquil sea-side enclave of Chimbai Village in Bandra West, The Yoga House is the ideal spot to unwind and detoxify in Bombay. It offers more than 35 yoga classes every week conducted by ten exceptional teachers. "Your teacher's job is to keep you safe and teach a class that's appropriate for each individual's skill level. Your job is to choose a class that allows you to listen to what your body needs and to work within its limitations." Swami Rama

We are offering various style of yoga, which incorporates practices derived from ancient and traditional sources. Ashtanga Vinyasa

It is a system of yoga transmitted by Sri K. This dynamic method of yoga emphasizes on vinyasa (synchronizing the breath and movement), dristhi (where you place your look why in asana) and ujjayi breath (the Victorious Breath). The practice always begins with Surya Namaskar and is followed by a complete series of postures. The purpose of this method is internal cleansing through a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. Hatha

Hatha Yoga is concentrating on the practice of postures (asanas) and breath control (pranayama) to energize the subtle channels and purify the body. Hatha yoga is not just a physical practice but a process of cellular transmutation from gross to subtle to divine. "Prior to everything, asana is spoken of as the first part of hatha yoga. Having done asana one gets steadiness (firmness) of body and mind; diseaselessness and lightness (flexibility) of the limbs". Verse 17 Chapt I Hatha Yoga Pradipika

Iyengar Yoga

Iyengar Yoga, created by B.K.S Iyengar, focuses on the structural alignment of the physical body through the development of asanas. It is a form of Hatha Yoga known for its use of props, which help the students build up strength, confidence, and flexibility without the threat of strain or injury. Iyengar Yoga is characterized by great attention to detail and precise focus on body alignment - a thorough understanding of how to practice asanas in order to obtain the maximum benefit. Pranayama

Pranayama is the practice of consciously regulating the different components of the breath - inhalation, exhalation and retention of breath - for a specific duration of time, so that the resulting breath is long and smooth. The practice of pranayama seeks to quieten the mind, bringing it under control through the deep and rhythmic flow of inhalations and exhalations. A few minutes of yogic breathing daily can work wonder. It will make you less susceptible to illness, and you will acquire more power, vitality and calmness in your daily activities. Your thinking and clarity of thought will improve. Sivananda Yoga

A Sivananda class is a traditional, slow paced, meditative class that helps encourage proper breathing, flexibility, strength and vitality in the body while calming the mind. Because Yoga is a spiritual system with a physical component, this non-competitive approach helps the practitioner gain much more than just a healthy body. A typical class includes pranayama (breathing exercises), warm-ups including Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar), 12 basic asanas (postures) and deep relaxation. The focus is on mastering the basic asanas from which variations are then added to further deepen the practice. The asanas follow an exact order that allows for the systematic movement of every major part of the body in a balanced way that enhances prana or life force energy, keeping the mind quiet and without the need to think beyond each individual pose. Additional variations may also be taught. Swami Sivananda, is the inspiration behind the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres. Vinyasa Flow

The essence of the vinyasa element is a synchronicity of breath and movement. Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic, flowing practice of asanas, where postures are linked together using breath.
