Things I Stopped Believing After Becoming an Ayurvedic Doctor 🌿👩🏻‍⚕️

1️⃣ “Healthy food can be eaten anytime.”
Even healthy food needs proper timing. Ayurveda says digestion changes throughout the day, and eating at the wrong time may still disturb Agni 🔥

2️⃣ “More water = better health.” 💧
Excess water can weaken digestion, cause bloating & dilute digestive fire. Ayurveda recommends drinking according to thirst & body needs.

3️⃣ “Ghee is unhealthy fat.” 🧈
In Ayurveda, pure ghee supports digestion, immunity, brain health & nourishment when taken in the right quantity.

4️⃣ “Skipping meals helps in weight loss.” 🚫🍽️
Skipping meals may slow metabolism, increase cravings & weaken digestion instead of supporting healthy weight balance.

5️⃣ “Cold food & drinks are always refreshing.” ❄️
Very cold foods may suppress digestive fire and lead to poor digestion, heaviness & mucus formation.

6️⃣ “Fruits can be eaten with anything.” 🍉
Ayurveda advises proper food combinations. Mixing fruits with heavy meals may cause bloating & indigestion.

Healing also depends on sleep, stress, digestion, routine, emotions & food habits.

Everyone says:
“Drink more water for better health.” 💧
But forcefully drinking 4–5 litres daily may not be healthy for everyone. In some people, excess water intake can contribute to bloating, water retention, electrolyte imbalance, and extra workload on the kidneys.
Ayurveda always takes a more personalised and balanced approach.
According to Ayurveda, excess water intake can weaken your “Agni” (digestive fire) 🔥
When you continuously overload the body with water — especially:
❌ without thirst
❌ during meals
❌ immediately after meals
❌ or in very large quantities —
it may dilute digestive strength and slow digestion.
This can lead to:
• Bloating
• Heaviness in the body
• Indigestion
• Low energy
• Loss of appetite
• Water retention
• Kapha imbalance
Ayurveda never promoted “one fixed quantity for all.”
Your water requirement depends on:
✔️ climate
✔️ body type (Prakriti)
✔️ activity level
✔️ digestion
✔️ season
✔️ health condition

→ Sip water slowly
→ Drink when genuinely thirsty
