Successful Endometriosis Masterclass at Jaslok Hospital 🇮🇳 × 🇫🇷

A powerful collaboration between Indian Center for Endometriosis (ICE) and IFEM Endo, France—bringing together two of the highest-volume endometriosis centres globally.

🔹 12 complex cases
🔹 Advanced bowel resections
🔹 Ureteric & bladder endometriosis
🔹 Nerve releases
🔹 Complex hysterectomies

This wasn’t just about surgery—it was about sharing expertise, refining techniques, and advancing global standards in endometriosis care.

A huge thank you to Jaslok Hospital for seamless organisation and support.

Special appreciation to our exceptional OT staff and nursing team—this level of precision is what makes this one of the highest-performing robotic ORs in the city.

Grateful to Dr. Prerna Gomes and the anaesthesia team.

To my team—Dr. Prashant Mangeshikar, Dr. Tanvi Desai, Dr. Zahraa, and Surg. Cdr. Devdutt—this wouldn’t be possible without you.

And to our colleagues at IFEM Endo—this is just the beginning of a strong global partnership.

Pain has a language — and chose to speak it through art.

For years, endometriosis lived silently inside her body: chronic pelvic pain, fatigue, the frustration of being unheard, and the long journey toward clarity. Today, through her solo show “Kivutar,” she has transformed that experience into powerful visual storytelling.

As a surgeon, I see the anatomy of endometriosis — nodules, fibrosis, nerve involvement. Through her canvases, Sejal has shown the world its emotion. This disease is not “just period pain.” It is complex, multisystem, and deeply life-altering — and it deserves awareness.

I am incredibly proud of you, Sejal — not only for enduring the journey, but for turning pain into purpose and using art to give a voice to the 1 in 10 women living with endometriosis.

From patient to advocate.
From suffering to strength.

Congratulations on your solo show. May your art continue to heal, educate, and empower.

500 robotic surgeries.

To be honest — I adopted robotics late.

For a long time, I wasn’t convinced.

I was doing advanced laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and frankly, most of what I was seeing in robotic gynecology at the time wasn’t impressive. The dissections weren’t cleaner. The planes weren’t better. In many cases, my laparoscopic work was sharper.

So I resisted.

Then my mentor, Prof. Horace Roman, told me something simple:

“Stick with it. You will see the difference in the long run.”

He was right.

Robotic surgery is not about shortcuts. It’s about what happens after you commit to mastering it — especially in complex endometriosis:

• Deep parametrial disease
• Nerve dissection
• Bowel work in a frozen pelvis
• Redo salvage surgery

Once the learning curve settles, the articulation, stability, and ergonomics change the precision of certain dissections in ways laparoscopy simply cannot.

On Feb 13, 2026, I completed my 500th da Vinci case.

Today, I stand as the highest-volume robotic gynecologic surgeon in Western India.

But this milestone isn’t about numbers.

It’s about evolution.
It’s about staying open to growth.
It’s about listening to mentors.
And it’s about continuously refining surgery for women who deserve better.

Grateful for the journey.
Now we build toward 1000.

End of a very long, very intense, and incredibly fulfilling week.

A week that felt less like routine operating and more like a rolling masterclass in endometriosis.

Grateful for this exceptional team and the people who travelled halfway across the world to be here.
• Our visiting fellow from Austria, Theresa Hudelist
• Our newly commissioned Navy officer and fellow, Surgeon Commander Devdutt Ikale
• Dr. Zahraa, joining us from Iraq via the UK
• My constant partner in crime, Dr. Tanvi Desai Wadia
• And our anaesthesia rockstars, Dr. Prerna Gomes and Dr. Dhanwanti (not pictured, but absolutely essential)

Deep appreciation as well for our multidisciplinary colorectal and urology colleagues, whose expertise is critical in managing advanced disease.

11 complex endometriosis surgeries.
Patients from all across India and from multiple countries worldwide.
Posterior compartment disease, bowel involvement, diaphragmatic disease, ureteric involvement, ovarian preservation — the full spectrum of what endometriosis truly is.

No shortcuts.
No minimalism.
No “one-size-fits-all.”

Tired, grateful, and proud of what thoughtful, multidisciplinary, uncompromising care can achieve when endometriosis is treated as the complex, multisystem disease that it is — once, and properly.

This case also reminds me of something I deeply believe in — no one does this alone.

These outcomes are only possible because of an extraordinary team that functions at the highest level every single day — colorectal surgeons, urologists, anesthetists, nursing staff, OT teams, and my core endometriosis team who understand the disease as deeply as I do.

Complex endometriosis surgery is not about one surgeon.
It is about trust, precision, communication, and shared expertise in the operating room.

I’m incredibly grateful to work with a team that allows us to push boundaries safely, take on the most complex disease, and truly change lives.

This is what specialist care looks like.
And this is why the right team matters.

Advanced Cadaver Masterclass | Endometriosis & Neuropelviology
Two intense days. One goal: elevate the standard of care for bowel endometriosis and pelvic nerve surgery.

Day 1 — Live Surgery at Saifee Hospital
• Stage IV deep endometriosis excision
• Conservative bowel shaving
• Disc excision for bowel endometriosis using a circular stapler
• Sclerotherapy for bowel endometriosis
• Step-by-step strategy, anatomy, energy use, and nerve-sparing principles

Day 2 — Cadaveric Neuropelviology Dissection at Nair Hospital
• Techniques to prepare the bowel for endometriosis surgery
• Full exploration of pelvic nerves
• Understanding nerve function, entrapment patterns & how endometriosis affects them
• Live demonstration of nerve-sparing techniques

Grateful to all the participants who showed up with curiosity, commitment, and courage to push the boundaries of gyn surgery.

Endometriosis deserves expertise. And expertise demands training.
Onward. 💙✨

Invited by the Indian Medical Association to speak on a subject that deserves more space in medical discourse —
Robotic Excision of Endometriosis & Why Endometriosis Surgery Must Be a Dedicated Subspecialty.

Endometriosis is not a “fertility issue” and certainly not just a cyst to be drained. It infiltrates the bowel, ureters, diaphragm and pelvic nerves — and deserves the same surgical respect that oncology or colorectal surgery commands.

At ICE and Jaslok, we are performing advanced Robotic Neuropelveology, fluorescence-guided ureteric dissection, transvaginal NOTES extraction and parametrial nerve release for deep infiltrating cases referred internationally.

This isn’t about more surgeries — this is about doing them right, with nerve preservation, anatomical restoration and true excision.

If medicine evolves through specialization, then Endometriosis Surgery deserves its own discipline.

Proud to represent India on that journey. 🇮🇳

So glad to have Dr. Angel & Dr. Nofi join us as visiting fellows to learn more about endometriosis surgery & laparoscopy 🙌

Their energy, curiosity, and commitment to women’s health were inspiring throughout! 🌸

Wishing them the very best as they take these skills back home 🇮🇩✨
