I completed reading the preface to the 9th edition of Dr William Boericke’s Materia Medica & Repertory from https://homeopathybooks.in
Here’s a summary of the preface and some pointers to what I have learnt after reading the preface.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
This book
o Is a clear & brief RESUME of all remedies used in homeopathy (until that time)
o Also includes CLINICAL SUGGESTIONS of many drugs not yet proved
o Leaves scope to future provings of the clinical suggestions
o Uses diagnostic terminology to enable usage of imperfectly proved remedies.
o Is not just a compilation of symptoms of verified Materia Medica but also of clinical suggestions.
HOW TO USE THE BOOK?
This book must be used as
o A supplement to other Materia Medica books.
o A must have ready reference in your consulting chamber and by the bedside.
o An introduction to larger reference books, records and books of proving.
DOSAGE OF REMEDIES:
Dosage mentioned at the end of every drug is only indicative of it’s use in the era and thus it can be disregarded.
