Himachal Pradesh is a paradise for the soul and senses. While wandering around I immersed myself in the vibrant culture of the locals, warm Pahari folk dances, colorful Kinnauri shawls, and tales of resilience shared over steaming chai.
The food habits and lifestyle here are a nutritionist’s dream, hearty siddu (steamed bread stuffed with nuts and jaggery), organic buckwheat rotis (phula), and fresh trout from mountain streams, all paired with wild greens foraged daily. Millets like madua and ragi dominate, naturally low in refined carbs and high in fiber, fueling active lifestyles amid rugged terrains.
What struck me most is Childhood obesity. It is strikingly rare. Kids trek miles to school, play in crisp mountain air, and thrive on home-cooked, seasonal meals free from processed junk. No sedentary screens or sugary sodas, just pure, movement-driven vitality.
Himachal reminds us: real health blooms from culture, nature, and mindful eating.
