A comprehensive Mental Conditioning and Nutrition session was conducted on Sunday, 11th January 2026 for sports students at Sanjeevani Cricket Academy (SCA) Wadala, Mumbai. The program was led by Dr. Swaroop Savanur, Leading Mental Conditioning & Peak Performance Coach (Founder MyMentalcoach IPL & National Athletes), along with Ms. Ashwini Deshmukh, Nutrition Expert (Greenleaf)
The objective of the program was to holistically prepare young sportspersons to cope with peer pressure, societal expectations and competitive stress, while enabling them to perform at their highest potential and strive for medals and trophies for the nation. The session highlighted that elite performance is achieved not only through physical training but through a strong integration of mental conditioning, nutrition, recovery and overall health management.
As the key faculty and Leading Coach, Dr. Swaroop Savanur addressed the students on mental toughness, focus, emotional regulation, resilience and performance mindset. He guided the athletes on managing competitive pressure and expectations at various levels of sport, emphasizing how mental strength plays a decisive role in consistent high performance and long-term success.
Following Dr. Savanur’s session, a 1.5-hour in-depth Nutrition session was conducted by myself covering critical aspects such as:
The importance of balanced and complete nutrition for sportspersons
Sport- and region-specific nutrient requirements based on physical condition and competition demands
The role of nutrition in endurance, recovery, injury prevention and athletic longevity
Practical approaches to daily meal planning, hydration, competition-day nutrition and recovery nutrition
Clarification of common nutrition myths prevalent among young athletes
The nutrition guidance was presented in a simple, practical and sustainable manner, enabling athletes to adopt these practices as a long-term performance strategy.
The session witnessed active participation from around 100 attendees, including sports students and their parents, underlining the importance of parental awareness and support in an athlete’s developmental journey.
The program concluded with an interactive Question & Answer session, allowing participants to address practical challenges related to mental pressure, nutrition planning, endurance maintenance, and performance consistency.
Overall, the session effectively reinforced the message that elite sporting success requires a balanced combination of mental conditioning, scientific nutrition, physical training and holistic health care, creating a strong foundation for athletes aspiring to perform at national and international levels.
A special thanks to Coach Mr. Vaibhav Naik & team members for the great initiative and successful ex*****on of the Program. I am equally thankful to Dr. Swaroop Savanur & Dr. Shweta Savanur for the opportunity to present on Nutrition.
