Your daily calorie burn is known as your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure), which includes:

1. BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) 60–70%
Energy your body uses just to stay alive: breathing, organ function, cell repair, body temperature, etc.

2. TEF (Thermic Effect of Food) ~10%
Energy used to digest and process food.
Protein has the highest thermic effect (20–30%), meaning eating more protein can increase daily calorie burn.

3. NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) 15–30%. All movement outside the gym: walking, standing, fidgeting, cleaning, daily steps.
This is one of the biggest fat loss cheat codes.

4. EAT (Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) 5–10%
Calories burned from intentional exercise like weight training, cardio, and sports.
Not as much as most people think—which is why training without nutrition won’t change your body.
Here’s the simple part:
Calories In vs Calories Out:
• Calorie Deficit (In < Out) → Fat Loss
• Calorie Surplus (In > Out) → Weight G*in (can be muscle with proper strength training & protein)
• Maintenance (In = Out) → Weight stays stable
