Coffee and Cancer – What Does Science Say? ☕

Studies, including publications in British Medical Journal, suggest that moderate coffee consumption may be linked with a reduced risk of certain cancers, especially liver and colorectal cancers.

✔️ Black coffee may offer more benefit
✔️ Helps in fatty liver reduction
✔️ May lower long-term cancer risk

However, coffee is not a cure — it is one part of a healthy lifestyle.

Awareness is often the first step in improving cancer outcomes.

It was valuable to be part of a platform where conversations around cancer care, evolving treatment approaches, and the importance of timely diagnosis continue to take center stage.

In oncology, progress is driven not only by treatment advancements, but also by education, awareness, collaboration, and early intervention.

As healthcare professionals, it is important that we continue to engage in discussions that strengthen both clinical understanding and patient awareness.

Because when it comes to cancer, informed action at the right time can make all the difference.

Why do good people suffer?

As a medical oncologist with over 20 years of experience, I have often asked myself this question while seeing patients go through difficult journeys in life.

But the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita offers a very different perspective.
Good people do not suffer more — they feel more. Their hearts are softer, their awareness deeper, and therefore their awakening happens faster.

Just like a diamond being shaped by a chisel or a seed growing through the darkness of soil, suffering is not always a punishment. Sometimes it is a process of purification, transformation, and awakening.

When we stop asking “Why is this happening to me?” and instead ask “What is this experience trying to awaken within me?”, the meaning of suffering begins to change.

A thoughtful conversation on life, suffering, and spiritual awakening.

You can’t see air pollution damage today.
But you pay for it years later.

Breathing polluted air every day is like slow smoking — the damage is silent, not instant.

Ads in Focus: Keeping Junk Diets Under Check 🍔📺

There is a clear link between childhood and adolescent obesity and long-term health risks such as diabetes, endocrine disorders, and sudden life-threatening illnesses in adulthood. This makes early prevention a critical public health priority.

To address this, the UK has banned junk food advertising online and restricted TV ads before 9 pm, responding to a childhood obesity prevalence of 22% among primary-age children. These steps complement higher taxes on high-sugar foods and restrictions on junk food outlets near schools.

India’s situation may appear less severe, with NFHS-5 reporting 3.4% obesity among children under five, but the trend is deeply concerning. Between NFHS-3 (2005–06) and NFHS-5 (2019–21):

* Obesity among under-five children increased by 127%
* Rates among adolescent girls rose by 125%
* Rates among adolescent boys surged by 288%

During the same period, sales of ultra-processed foods grew at a compounded annual growth rate of over 13% (2011–2021), reflecting increased access to high-calorie, high-sugar diets.

While clearer food labelling is a step forward, stronger policy interventions—including advertising regulation—are essential to protect young populations.

With lifestyle diseases rising steadily, the message remains clear:
Prevention is better than cure.
