If you answered “YES” to any of these questions, it may be time to pay closer attention to your kidney health. Here’s why:
1️⃣ High blood pressure
Persistent high blood pressure can both damage the kidneys and signal IgA Nephropathy (IgAN).
2️⃣ Family history of kidney disease or dialysis
A family history of chronic kidney disease, dialysis, or kidney transplant may increase your risk of developing IgAN.
3️⃣ Swelling in legs, ankles, or feet
Frequent swelling could be your body’s way of indicating fluid retention caused by reduced kidney function.
4️⃣ Blood or protein in urine
Even if you feel healthy, blood or protein in the urine can be an early warning sign of kidney damage.
5️⃣ Brown, pink, red, or cola-colored urine
Changes in urine colour may indicate blood in the urine — one of the common symptoms associated with IgAN.
6️⃣ Frothy or foamy urine
Foamy urine may occur due to excess protein leakage, which can point toward kidney dysfunction.
⚠️ IgA Nephropathy often progresses silently, with symptoms appearing only after kidney damage has already begun.
Early detection can make a meaningful difference.
If any of these signs sound familiar, consult a Nephrologist and take the first step toward protecting your kidney health.
