Beejom uses natural farming techniques to grow food. The agricultural practices at Beejom is cow-centric. All the products of the Indian indigenous cows at the farm are used to manufacture organic manure for the fields. The farm hugely promotes indian millets and traditional foods and we see that as the most obvious way of restoring the food security and health of the nation. The farm uses solar p

ower, has rain water harvesting and practices vermi-culture, A bio-gas plant and a cow-urine distillation plant will be soon installed. Our aim is to work with farmers at the grassroot level and help them restore their holdings into organic holistic farms.

When was the last time you had a fresh, hot Imarti? 🧡

Or a glass of Jamun Ka Sharbat on a warm Sawan afternoon?

Have you ever tried a Shakarkandi Samosa?
Or Kathal Ki Kheer, made with jackfruit?

And when was the last time you had a warm, freshly made Naan Khatai?

Some foods don’t need an introduction.
They just need to be made fresh, served warm, and eaten slowly. 🌿

This Sawan, we’re bringing together some of those familiar-yet-forgotten flavours, along with dishes rooted in the farm and the season — Bedmi Poori & Aloo Ki Sabzi, Moth Chawal & Mushroom Masala, Millet Dosa & Uttapam, Moong Dal Pesarattu, and much more.

And yes, Naan Khatai and fresh Imartis, too.

All part of a day at Beejom — with farm food, animals, pottery, crafts, storytelling, shopping and live music waiting beyond the plate.

12 years of Beejom. ❤️🌿

Today, Beejom turns 12.

It all began on 10 August 2014, quite unexpectedly, with a horse named Ganga. What started with finding a home where she could live freely slowly became a farm, and then something much bigger than we had imagined.

Over these twelve years, we have grown, learnt, made mistakes, started again and learnt some more.

We have grown food and soil, welcomed hundreds of animals, worked alongside farmers and artisans, created spaces for learning, and met countless people who have become part of the Beejom story.

And then came the floods.

We had to leave behind a place that had been home for years and begin again. Eventually, that difficult chapter led us to our permanent home — Beejom Grám Sanctuary in Tajpur.

The next three years were another journey of building, planting, moving animals, creating spaces, figuring things out and slowly turning this land into a sanctuary, farm and living classroom.

Today, Beejom is animals who found a home, living soil and food grown from it, people who have grown with the farm, and farmers, artisans, children, students, visitors and friends who have all added something to its story.

Looking back, Beejom was never really a finished plan. It has been a journey that continues to evolve with every animal, every seed, every person and every season.

Twelve years later, we are still learning. Still growing. Still building.

And none of this would have been possible without the people who have walked alongside us — our team, farmers, artisans, friends, visitors, customers and everyone who has supported Beejom in ways big and small.

Thank you for believing in what we are trying to build, for showing up, encouraging us, questioning us, learning with us and growing with us.

Beejom is 12 today because so many of you have been a part of its journey. ❤️

Here’s to the years ahead, and to everything that is still waiting to grow. 🌿

Some stories are meant to be heard. Some make you see the world a little differently. 🌿

This Sawan Mela, we’re bringing Kapil Pandey to Beejom for an afternoon of stories, music and imagination.

Kapil is a children’s writer, poet and drama-in-education practitioner who has spent years using storytelling and theatre to create spaces for learning, reflection and connection. From schools and parks to lit fests, bastis and classrooms across India, he has been telling stories to both children and adults.

He is also the President of the Kutumb Foundation, which uses drama as a tool for language and holistic learning, and has trained teachers across India in the art of learning through drama.

At Beejom, he brings Ganga’s Curse — a storytelling experience inspired by the river, imagination and the questions that stories help us ask.

And that’s just one part of the Sawan Mela. 🌾

It’s Monsoon Mayhem. It’s been raining non stop for the last two days. So we decided to “plate a Table of food”; the original herb wheel.

Season after season we grow such amazing food. The Kharif season truly belongs to the greens and the gourds. We spent a delightful afternoon yesterday admiring our own produce and documenting what is growing in the farm. Here we are trying to match my notes from many years ago, to the field to see what we didn’t plant and what we did. Some afternoons, especially rainy days like this are all about random conversations over a refreshing cup of tea.

Nutritious, high in iron and folic acid, good for the gut, low on the glycemic index, great for weight loss, easy to grow, budget friendly and delicious. Greens and Gourds are the things to eat now.

Saags are a personal favourite and as a matter of fact, one of my favourite meals is simple saag In a gravy and some steamed Rice.

While we are busy with this, someone is floating a boat and the Indian Bull Frogs are turning yellow to attract a mate shaadee . com but naturally.

Happy National Handloom Day. 🧵

Two years ago, a simple WhatsApp message changed the course of one of our most meaningful journeys.

A weaving unit in Delhi was shutting down. Nearly century-old Sal looms were being dismantled and sold. Rather than letting a piece of history disappear, we brought five of those looms home to Beejom.

At the time, we didn’t know exactly what we would do with them.

Months later, an 85-year-old master craftsman helped bring every loom back to life. Soon after, we discovered something even more extraordinary. Just a few villages away lived weaving families who had slowly left their ancestral craft behind because handloom could no longer sustain their livelihoods.

Today, those looms are alive again.

At Bunkar @ Beejom, master weavers and their families are weaving once more—not just fabric, but dignity, livelihoods and stories that deserve to continue.

This project isn’t about nostalgia.

It is about ensuring that India’s handloom heritage has a future.

With National Handloom Day (7 August), Beejom’s 12th anniversary (10 August) and Saawan at Beejom (16 August) coming together, there couldn’t be a better time to introduce Bunkar @ Beejom – The Keepers of the Loom.

Championing handloom isn’t simply an idea.

It is our responsibility.

We warmly invite you to join us on 16 August for the inauguration of Bunkar @ Beejom during Saawan at Beejom. Come meet the artisans, witness the looms in action, experience slow fashion at its source and celebrate the people keeping this beautiful tradition alive.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Soil is the common denominator. Earthworms are its engineers. 🪱🌱

At Beejom, we believe that healthy food begins with living soil.

Earthworms quietly loosen the soil, improve aeration, recycle organic matter into nutrient-rich castings, and help create the conditions for crops to thrive. Their presence is one of the simplest signs that the soil is alive and healthy.

This is the foundation of regenerative agriculture and the thread that connects many ecological farming systems. Whether it is Natural Farming, Permaculture, Biodynamic Farming, or Vedic Krishi, they all begin with the same principle—nurturing living soil instead of treating it as a container for chemical inputs.

When we grow soil, the soil grows everything else.

The smallest creatures often do the biggest jobs, reminding us that a healthy farm starts beneath our feet.
