🤱 The 3 Stages of Labor: Your Body’s Incredible Journey to Meet Baby
Mama, understanding what happens during labor can turn fear into focus. Your body is designed for this—and knowing each stage helps you feel prepared, calm, and in control. From the first contraction to holding your baby skin‑to‑skin, let’s walk through the journey together. You are stronger than you think.
🔹 Stage 1: Early & Active Labor (Dilation)
· Regular contractions help the cervix open (dilate)
· Cervix goes from closed to 4 cm (early), then to 10 cm (full dilation)
· Your water may break (amniotic sac rupture)
· ✅ Focus: Breathe, rest between contractions, stay hydrated
🔹 Stage 2: Delivery (Birth)
· Cervix is fully open (10 cm) – time to push!
· Strong urge to push with contractions
· Baby moves down through the birth canal
· ✅ Focus: Push with your body’s urges, listen to your care team
🔹 Stage 3: Placenta Stage
· Placenta detaches from the uterus and is delivered (usually 5–30 minutes after birth)
· Skin‑to‑skin bonding with your baby begins
· ✅ Focus: Rest, recover, and enjoy your newborn
💡 Quick reminder: Every labor is unique. Stay positive, trust your body, and lean on your support team. You’ve got this.
