They called it the wrong name for 80 years. And millions of women paid the price.
PCOS is now officially renamed PMOS — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.
Published in The Lancet, May 2026.
And no, this isn’t just a letter change.
The old name made everyone believe it was about cysts in your ovaries. So women were dismissed, misdiagnosed, and undertreated for decades.
The new name finally says what it always was:
A hormonal disorder. A metabolic condition. A whole body problem.
Earlier → “You just have cysts, it’s common.”
Now → A condition affecting 170 million women, finally being taken seriously.
Save this post. Share it with every woman you know.
And if you’ve been struggling with PCOS/PMOS and feel like nothing is working — your hormones and metabolism need a root cause approach, not a band-aid.
