Appendicitis in children can initially resemble an ordinary stomach infection.
The pain often begins around the belly button and later moves towards the lower-right side. Vomiting, fever, loss of appetite and worsening pain may also occur. Since younger children may not describe their symptoms clearly, persistent or increasing abdominal pain should be evaluated promptly.
