Do you ever finish a meal and feel like you swallowed a balloon?

Not just full. Tight. Heavy. Sometimes even a little breathless.

I hear this almost every day in my clinic. Women tell me, "Doctor, I ate so little, why do I look 6 months pregnant by evening?"

Here is what may be happening. In Ayurveda, this is often a sign of low digestive fire, what we call weak Agni. When Agni is weak, food does not break down properly. It sits. It ferments. It creates gas and bloating instead of nourishment and energy.

Many women push through it for years, blaming stress, blaming their diet, blaming themselves. But your body is not being dramatic. It is asking for help.

A few small shifts I often suggest to my patients:

Sip warm water through the day instead of cold water with meals.

Eat your largest meal in the afternoon, when digestive fire is naturally strongest.

Avoid eating in a rushed or stressed state, even if that means pausing for two minutes before you eat.

Healing digestion is rarely about one magic remedy. It is about rebuilding trust with your own body, one meal at a time.

Does this heavy, bloated feeling sound familiar to you? Tell me below, I read every comment.

Many women tell me the same thing.

"Doctor, I eat so little, I walk daily, but the weight just doesn't move."

"I feel tired even after 8 hours of sleep."

"My hair is falling, my skin is dry, and I feel cold when everyone else is comfortable."

If this sounds like you, please know you are not lazy and you are not imagining it.

This is very often the thyroid quietly slowing everything down.

In Ayurveda, we see the thyroid as closely connected to Agni, our body's digestive and metabolic fire.

When Agni becomes weak or imbalanced, along with aggravated Kapha, the whole system slows.

Metabolism slows. Digestion slows. Even your mood and energy can feel low.

This is why medicine alone sometimes helps the numbers on paper, but you still don't feel like yourself.

A few gentle corrections that help many of my patients:

Sip warm water through the day instead of cold drinks.

Add a pinch of ajwain or jeera to your meals to support digestion.

Don't skip breakfast, even if you don't feel hungry, your Agni needs fuel in the morning.

Sleep before 10:30 pm as much as possible, this is when the body repairs itself.

Healing thyroid imbalance naturally takes patience, but the body does respond when we work with it, not against it.

One of my patients told me something last week that stuck with me.

She said, "Doctor, I can predict my migraine better than the weather forecast. It comes right before my periods, every single time."

I hear this so often in my clinic.

Women think migraine is just something they have to live with. Pop a painkiller, lie in a dark room, wait it out, repeat next month.

But in Ayurveda, we look at migraine differently.

Most of these cyclical headaches come from an aggravated Pitta dosha, made worse by poor digestion, disturbed sleep and hormonal shifts. When the gut is not clearing heat and toxins properly, that heat often rises upward and settles as a throbbing pain in the head.

It is rarely just "in the head." It usually starts in the gut.

A few things that genuinely help many of my patients:

Start the day with warm water, not tea or coffee first thing

Avoid skipping meals, especially breakfast, even when busy

Reduce screen time in the hour before bed, especially in the week before periods

None of this is a quick fix. But small, consistent corrections often reduce both the frequency and the intensity over a few cycles.

Do your migraines follow a pattern too? Tell me below, I read every comment.

Do you feel bloated even after eating a normal, small meal?

So many women tell me this. They eat a little rice and dal, and within twenty minutes the stomach feels tight, heavy, sometimes even painful. They think, "Maybe I ate too fast" or "Maybe it's just gas, it will pass."

One of my patients recently told me she had stopped eating dinner altogether because it made her so uncomfortable. She thought she was being disciplined. Actually, her body was struggling.

In Ayurveda, this is usually a sign that your Agni, your digestive fire, has become weak or irregular. When Agni is low, even simple food is not digested properly. It sits in the gut, ferments, and creates that bloated, gassy, heavy feeling. Over time this also leads to acidity, poor sleep, skin issues, and low energy, because an unhappy gut affects everything else in the body.

Here is what I usually tell women to start with:

Eat your largest meal in the afternoon, not at night, when Agni is naturally strongest.

Sip warm water through the day instead of cold water with meals.

Chew slowly. Digestion begins in the mouth, not the stomach.

Small changes like this, done consistently, can bring real relief within a few weeks. Healing the gut is rarely about one magic remedy. It is about rebuilding trust with your own body.

Have you been feeling this heaviness after meals too? Tell me below, I read every comment.

One of my patients recently told me, "Doctor, I eat so little, yet I keep gaining weight. I feel lazy but I am not lazy, I am just tired all the time."

I hear this almost every day in my clinic.

She was not imagining it. Her thyroid was working slower than it should, and no one had explained to her why she felt this way in her own body.

In Ayurveda, thyroid imbalance is often linked to a sluggish Agni, our digestive fire, and an accumulation of Kapha dosha. When Agni weakens, metabolism slows down. The body starts holding on to everything, weight, water, fatigue, even sadness.

This is not about willpower. It is about balance.

Here are a few gentle corrections I guide my patients through:

Start your day with warm water and a pinch of ajwain to kindle digestion.

Avoid cold and leftover foods, they dampen Agni further.

Add gentle movement or a short walk in the morning sun, it supports thyroid function naturally.

Sleep before 11 pm, thyroid healing happens quietly at night.

Healing thyroid issues naturally takes patience, but the body always wants to come back to balance. It simply needs the right support.

One of my patients told me something last week that stayed with me.

She said, "Doctor, every month, three days before my period, my head starts pounding. I thought this was just normal."

It is not normal. It is common, yes. But not normal.

So many women live with migraines around their cycle, after skipping meals, in bright sun, or when stress builds up. And most of them have simply learned to "manage" it with a painkiller and move on.

In Ayurveda, we look at this differently.

Migraine is often linked to an aggravated Pitta dosha, along with poor digestion and a nervous system that is constantly overstimulated. When there is too much heat inside the body, along with disturbed sleep and irregular eating, the head becomes the pressure point.

A few things I gently ask my patients to try:

Do not skip meals, especially breakfast.

Avoid very hot, spicy, or fried food during your pre-period week.

Sleep before 10.30 pm. The nervous system repairs itself in these hours.

Sip on soaked coriander seed water in the morning. It cools the system beautifully.

This is not about masking the pain every time. It is about asking why your body is signalling like this, again and again.

Do you also get headaches around a specific time of the month or day? Tell me below, I read every comment.

Almost every day, a woman sits across from me and says the same thing.

"Doctor, I just look at food and my stomach blows up."

She has tried cutting rice. Cutting wheat. Sometimes even cutting whole meals. And still, that heaviness after eating does not go away.

Here is what I want you to understand.

Bloating is rarely about how much you eat. It is about how well your body is digesting what you eat.

In Ayurveda, we look at this as a weak Agni, your digestive fire. When Agni is low, even simple food sits in the gut like a guest who overstayed. It ferments, it creates gas, it creates that tight, heavy feeling by evening.

And once digestion is weak for months or years, it slowly affects your energy, your skin, even your hormones. Everything in the body is connected to the gut.

A few small corrections I often give my patients:

Sip warm water through the day, not cold water with meals

Eat your heaviest meal when the sun is strongest, in the afternoon

Stop eating the moment you feel comfortably full, not stuffed

These sound too simple to matter. But I have watched women feel lighter within days of just following these three things sincerely.

Does your bloating get worse by evening, or right after you eat? Tell me below, I read every comment.

A woman came to me last month and said something I hear almost every single day.

"Doctor, I eat so little, but I still can't lose weight. I'm tired all the time. My hair is falling. Am I just lazy?"

She was not lazy. Her thyroid was struggling, and no one had really looked into it properly.

Many women brush off these signs for years. Cold hands and feet. Constipation. Puffy face. Low mood. Hair thinning near the temples. We blame stress, age, or "just being busy." But the thyroid is often the quiet reason behind it all.

In Ayurveda, we see thyroid imbalance as a disturbance in Agni, our digestive and metabolic fire. When Agni is weak or irregular, the whole body slows down with it, including this small gland that controls so much of your energy.

Healing it is not about one magic herb. It is about steadily rebuilding that fire and calming the system around it.

A few things I ask my patients to start with:

Eat your meals at the same time every day, especially breakfast

Avoid cold drinks and raw salads late in the evening

Gentle walks after meals instead of lying down immediately

Sleep before 10:30 pm, since the body repairs the thyroid mostly at night

None of this is instant. But I have watched women slowly get their energy back, their periods regulate, and their mind feel lighter again.

Have you been feeling unusually tired lately, even after a full night's sleep? Tell me below, I read every comment.

One of my patients told me something last week that stayed with me.

She said, "Doctor, I get a migraine like clockwork, a few days before my period. I just take a painkiller and lie down in a dark room. I thought this was normal."

It is common. But common does not mean normal.

In Ayurveda, this pattern often points to a Pitta and Vata imbalance, along with a liver that is quietly overworked. When hormones shift before periods, and toxins are not clearing out properly, that pressure often shows up as head pain, light sensitivity, and nausea.

Many women tell me they also feel more anxious, tired, and unable to sleep well in the days before the migraine hits. The head pain is just the loudest symptom. It is not the only one.

A few gentle things that genuinely help many of my patients:

Reduce screen time and bright light exposure in the evenings, especially the week before your period.

Add a warm sesame oil scalp massage twice a week. It calms the nervous system more than people expect.

Avoid skipping meals, especially breakfast. Low blood sugar is a hidden trigger for many hormonal migraines.

Healing the root cause takes a little time, but it is absolutely possible.

Do your migraines follow your cycle too? Tell me below, I read every comment.

One of my patients told me last week, "Doctor, I feel pregnant by evening even though I've barely eaten anything."

She is not alone. I hear this almost every day in my clinic.

Women normalise bloating, burping, acidity after meals, that heavy feeling in the stomach. They think it's just "how their body is." It is not.

In Ayurveda, this is usually a sign that your Agni, your digestive fire, has become weak or irregular. When Agni is low, food does not get digested properly. It sits in the gut, ferments, and creates gas, bloating, and that burning sensation we call acidity.

Stress, eating late at night, cold drinks with meals, and skipping breakfast then overeating at dinner, all of these quietly damage your Agni over time.

Here is what I usually tell my patients to start with:

Sip warm water through the day instead of cold water

Eat your largest meal in the afternoon, not at night

Avoid lying down immediately after eating, walk for 10 minutes instead

Your body is not being difficult. It is asking for a little more warmth, a little more rhythm.
