A Tribute to Hon. Ajit Dada Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

We at Prasanna Desai Architects Pune, extend our heartfelt condolences at the shocking, untimely & tragic demise of Hon. Ajit Dada Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Prasanna Desai Architects had the opportunity of working for past 5 years with Hon Ajit Dada Pawar a towering personality with punctuality, precision, perfection, professionalism & passion & this has been a lifetime experience for us.

He played a very decisive and important role in taking urban design to the small town with his vision of making Baramati a town with the comfort & connectivity for the people along with crafting & curating public spaces in the urban realm. His eye for details and quality of work was always a driving force to achieve the benchmark in the project.

We owe the success of these projects to him along with the local political team, supported by the PWD team & executed by the competent contractors team. Hon. Dada would make it a point to review each project regularly at the stroke of 6am SHARP.

His demise has taken away from us a personality who had the sensitivity towards making our public realm & cities better.

We hope that collectively we will able to follow his beliefs & benchmarks for our towns & cities which will be a tribute to him in true respect.

Above all his humane and humble behaviour will always remain in our hearts forever.

A delegation from several cities of Uttar Pradesh, Rajkot, Mysore & Nashik visited Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation on 2nd July 2025 to understand and see the city’s sustainable mobility as well as non motorised transport journey.

The delegation compromised of the Honourable Commissioner’s from the cities of Kanpur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya & Saranpur, Engineers as well as urban designers from all the cities.

PCMC’s journey was presented by a panel of

The session concluded with a question answer session to resolve the doubts and have an interactive dialogue with the team.

The workshop then comprised of various site visits to see the executed projects by PCMC on ground which included some completed projects while some which are currently under ex*****on to understand the construction process.

A two day workshop was held on 26th & 27th of June in Guwahati by Assam Urban Knowledge Hub ( AUKH ) - Dept of Town & Country Planning supported by, Dept of Housing & Urban Affairs, Govt of Assam to review the Urban Design Guidelines being formulated as a part of Assam Design Policy. The policy is being prepared by AUKH under the Chairmanship of Prof Utpal Sharma from Ahmedabad and team. Prof PSN Rao former chairman DUAC & former Director SPA was a special invitee.

The seven themes of the policy ( architecture and built form , Urban design, urban mobility, Tourism infrastructure & Design, urban landscape and waterscape, branding and digital experience and Urban utilities and services ) were reviewed by seven expert teams and recommendations presented in the workshop which was inaugurated by the Hon Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs Shri Jayanta Mallabaruah and guided by Smt Kavitha Padmanabhan, Commissioner & Secretary of the Department of Housing & Urban Affairs, Govt of Assam.
