Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is a largely genetically determined lipoprotein associated with increased risk of heart attack, ischemic stroke, peripheral arterial disease and aortic valve stenosis.

An 82-year-old octogenarian patient, admitted NSTEMI along with Atrial Fibrillation, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, and Systemic Hypertension, had been under our care for the past five days. Coronary angiography performed through the radial route revealed critical triple vessel coronary artery disease, including a 99% ostial occlusion of the Left Anterior Descending (LAD) artery.

A successful complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) was carried out with deployment of stents to the LAD and Left Circumflex (LCX) arteries. Adding to this encouraging outcome, the patient’s atrial fibrillation reverted to sinus rhythm overnight, and the patient remains clinically stable.
