🤱 How you hold your breast can make a difference to your baby’s latch!
If you are using a scissor hold while helping your baby latch, especially if your fingers are close to the ni**le, it can sometimes make it harder for the baby to take a deep mouthful of breast.
A shallow latch may lead to:
❌ Ni**le pain or soreness
❌ Baby taking in less milk
❌ Longer or inefficient feeds
❌ Frequent slipping off the breast
✨ Try a C-hold instead.
Place your hand around the breast with your thumb on one side and your fingers on the other, keeping them well away from the ar**la.
This gives your baby more space to take a deeper mouthful of breast, which can support better milk transfer and make feeding more comfortable.
Remember: A good latch should not be persistently painful. If breastfeeding continues to hurt despite repositioning, it’s worth getting the latch assessed by a lactation professional.
Save this reel for your next feed and share it with a new mom who needs to see this! ❤️
