Every posture begins with how you leave Samasthiti.

In Trikonasana, the transition matters just as much as the final shape.
Step the feet wide, ground both legs, and establish the base before reaching into the posture.

As you move sideways, think of creating length through both sides of the waist rather than dropping toward the floor.
The legs stay active, the chest stays broad, and the spine continues to extend.

When the foundation is clear, Trikonasana feels stable, spacious, and effortless.

In Uttanasana, the shoulders play a bigger role than most people realise.

As you fold forward, keep the armpits open and gently internally rotate the arms.
This helps broaden the upper back, keeps the chest from collapsing, and allows the spine to lengthen more evenly.

Rather than pulling yourself deeper into the posture, focus on creating space from the hips all the way through the crown of the head.

When the arms and shoulders are organised, the entire forward fold feels lighter and more connected.

This older, more intense style of **Surya Namaskar** was practiced with very different alignment ideas.

In this version:
**Hasta Uttanasana** moves into a deep backbend
**Hasta Padasana** rounds the spine strongly
**Ashwa Sanchalanasana** places the knee far forward
β€’ The posture is closer to **Parvatasana** than Adho Mukha Svanasana
β€’ The stance stays shorter
**Bhujangasana** is practiced with the feet together and toes turned inward

Today, we no longer recommend practicing this style regularly because it can place excessive pressure on different joints and the spine.
Modern yoga teaching focuses much more on alignment, stability, and sustainable movement.

This reel is simply to show the difference between older intense approaches and the way many people practice today.

In Adho Mukha Svanasana, rounding the back usually means the legs are pulling the spine too much.
Instead of forcing the heels down, first bend the knees and focus on lifting the hips upward.οΏ½That action creates more space through the spine and allows the back to lengthen naturally.
Once the spine is organised, the legs can gradually begin to straighten without losing the shape of the posture.

Launching into Ardha Chandrasana from Virabhadrasana II becomes much steadier with the support of a yoga block.

The block brings the floor closer, which helps keep the spine long and the pelvis more organised during the transition.
As the weight shifts forward, press firmly through the standing leg and let the back leg extend gradually behind you.

With a stable base, the balance feels lighter and the posture can open without rushing.

In Janu Sirsasana, moving the forehead directly toward the shin often makes the spine collapse too early.

Instead, first stay in your half forward fold and focus on creating length through the spine.
Lift through the chest, hinge from the hips, and allow the torso to extend forward before going deeper.

Once the spine stays long and organised, the body can gradually move into the full posture without losing the alignment.

Keep the gaze and chest facing forward first, then rotate from the thigh rather than twisting from the foot itself.
As the front knee bends, continue pressing the outer arch of the back foot firmly into the mat.

That grounding action helps stabilise the pelvis and keeps the back leg active throughout the posture.
Only after the base is organised does the posture fully open toward the bent-knee side.
